Transitions Coaching

Transitions Coaching Why would you want to work with me? Nothing holds you back more than you – this is so true and I can work with you on this.

Whether you’re facing unexpected “lifequakes” that shake your world or you’re navigating planned changes that push you out of your comfort zone, or maybe you know you want to make a change but just keep putting it off, you don't have to do it alone. I’m a bit of a change-ninja – you know those lists of ‘what are the top 10 stressors in life?’ – well I have most of them ticked off and believe me I

fell over with all of them before I found my way to the other side. Therefore, I really want to work with people who are already going through and/or want to make some sort of transformational change in their life. This could be:

🟦 a kind of ‘Life Laundry’ type of experience to help you head confidently towards the life you have always imagined, or

🟦 that you want to make a change but something is holding you back and you can’t work out how to get to where you want to be, or

🟦 you’ve had a curveball thrown at you’ve got no idea what to do next

Getting from point A to point B will be our journey together. I have often heard it said that the greatest obstacle between where you are now and where you want to be is the 6 inches between your ears. Did I forget to mention my 20+ years working in Human Resources and that my professional Coaching accreditation is from the International Coaching Federation?

Did You Know?

Feeling stuck and being stuck are not the same thing.

Sometimes nothing is physically stopping us.

We're simply standing still because we're unsure which direction to take.

Movement creates clarity.

Waiting rarely does.

It's one of the motivators behind my group coaching workshop - 'What's Next? - Refinding Purpose in Retirement / Semi-Retirment'

Going back 5 years ago I was made redundant. I took a few months out and trained as a coach. I spent some quality time with family and friends and then everyday started to look the same. So when an former colleague called me and offered me an interim role in her team I jumped at the chance. It gave me structure back.

Fast forward 9 months and that contract ended. Again, I spent some time with family and just enjoyed not having to rush into what came next.

Then one day I had a realisation...

It has gone from not feeling rushed into something else...

I had lost all interest in most things, going to bed late and sleeping in because I could. I spent hours in bed watching miniseries all day.

Don't get me wrong I was enjoying the opportunity to immerse myself in shows I had never got around to watching but after binge watching the entire back catalogues of Dynasty (the remade version), Desperate Housewives, The Gilmore Girls and This Is Us I had a moment where I realised it had become my whole life. I no longer looked beyond when I could watch the next episode.

And then I realised I had slumped into a phase of depression and no longer had any real reason to get out of bed.

It was then I reconnected with previous coach, (yes, that is a thing coaches have coaches - it's so easy to avoid the difficult questions if you try coaching yourself). That reconnection, sparked new light at the end of the tunnel.

Today - I run 2 businesses Designed by Dannii and Transitions Coaching. And whilst both are relative fledglings, they do have wings and I enjoy them both. They give me purpose and they do wonderful things for my mental health.

If you are at a place in life where you want to explore 'What's Next?', then please do come and join me at my next event on June 25th at Hostal Rural - 10:30-13:30 - Price 40 euros.

Did You Know?

Confidence often comes after action, not before it.

Many people wait until they feel confident.

The problem?

Confidence usually arrives after we've tried something.

Not before.

Every confident person was once a beginner.

Safe in that knowledge, what action are you going to take this week?

Did You Know?

Losing a role can feel like losing part of yourself.

Many people don't miss the job.

They miss:

Being needed
Being recognised
Having structure
Having a reason to get up

Which is why retirement, redundancy and major life changes can feel surprisingly emotional.

The transition isn't about what you've stopped doing.

It's about discovering who you are without that label.

Did You Know?

Most people underestimate how many times they will reinvent themselves.

Many of us grow up believing life follows a neat path:

Education → Career → Retirement

But real life rarely works like that.

Most people experience multiple reinventions.

New careers.
New relationships.
New countries.
New priorities.
New identities.

You're probably not becoming a different person.
You're becoming a fuller version of yourself.

Most notably for me I started off in sales & marketing, moved to agency recruitment, went into in-house HR (stayed a considerable while specialising in talent development and inclusion work), trained as a coach, then started up my own Inclusion & Belonging Agency, then pivoted to graphic design and marketing via Designed by Dannii and now launching Coaching.

I bet most people on here have a few to note - for instance most of us probably have the moving country in common. From the UK I have lived in Spain twice and Brussels once.

Do you have a neat linear life, or had yours been a wiggly path?

Did You Know?

Purpose Is Good For Your Health

When people hear the word purpose, they often think of something huge.

Changing the world.
Building a business.
Writing a book.
Leaving a legacy.

But purpose can be much simpler than that.

Purpose is having a reason to get up in the morning. A reason to contribute. A reason to care. A reason to keep growing.

Research consistently shows that people who feel a sense of purpose tend to be happier, more resilient and often healthier.

The challenge is that major life transitions can sometimes disconnect us from that purpose.

Retirement.
Children leaving home.
Redundancy.
Moving country.
Relationship changes.

The question isn't:

"What is my purpose?"

The question is:

"What matters enough to me that I'd like to spend more time doing it?"

That's often where purpose begins.

Did You Know?

Having Something to Look Forward To Improves Wellbeing

Think back to a time when you were excited about something.

A holiday.
A family visit.
A new project.
A special event.

Part of the enjoyment came before it even happened.

That's because anticipation itself can boost our mood and wellbeing.

Having something to look forward to gives us hope. Direction. Energy. A reason to keep moving.

And it doesn't have to be something expensive or life-changing.

It could be:

☕ Meeting a friend for coffee

📚 Joining a book club

🚶 Exploring a new walking route

🎨 Starting a hobby

🌱 Planning a personal project

Sometimes happiness isn't found in the destination.

It's found in the anticipation.

What are you looking forward to?

Did You Know?

Small Actions Can Change Your Mood

When we're feeling stuck, we often think we need a huge breakthrough.

A major decision.
A life-changing plan.
A dramatic transformation.

But often, the opposite is true.

Research shows that small actions can have a surprisingly positive effect on our mood and wellbeing.

A short walk.
A phone call.
Five minutes in the sunshine.
Starting a conversation.
Trying something new.

These things might seem insignificant.

But small actions create momentum.

And momentum often creates motivation.

Many people wait until they feel motivated before taking action.

In reality, action is often what creates motivation in the first place.

✨ What's one small thing you could do today that your future self might thank you for?

Did You Know?

Your Brain Can Change Throughout Your Entire Life

Many people believe that once we reach a certain age, we become fixed.

Fixed habits.
Fixed opinions.
Fixed abilities.
Fixed possibilities.

But research tells us something very different.

Our brains continue adapting, learning and creating new connections throughout our lives.

This is called neuroplasticity.

Which means you're never too old to:

✔ Learn a new skill

✔ Meet new people

✔ Discover a new interest

✔ Start a business

✔ Volunteer

✔ Change direction

✔ Rewrite your story

The future doesn't have to look exactly like the past.

Sometimes growth starts with one small decision to try something different.
