We've been on anchor at Pollenca, Mallorca for four nights so far. It has been off and on gusty and a bit too cool for swimming but beautiful!
We had a rigger out to replace an important part on our mast. It's the headboard car that attaches the top of the main sail and slides the sail up and down. A very important part! It's not unusual to need a replacement. We learned a lot from Rafa, the rigging expert! And it cost much less than we expected. Whewf!!

Yesterday, we departed from our first Anchorage on Lookin' Up and sailed down the coast of Spain to a lovely little place built around an old fortress.
The pond (looked like a moat) around it is fed by a natural spring with pretty blue water and lots of fish. We toured town, had a sangria and a couple croquettes.
I made it to the Correos (post office) just before they closed at 2:30 to send mom's postcard.
Tomorrow is a big big day so we will try to get a good rest! There is very little wind blowing us around on anchor but we feel a few waves tonight 🌊 It's still very peaceful!

First night out on anchor!
We worked hard to get here. Now we are relaxing out on the water watching the sky turn to night. The stars are appearing one at a time. The boat rocks a little. We will sleep well 😴 ⛵️

See that grey rope?! We got to practice splicing! The last shot is the piece we cut out.

The new wig for Jaz is made of the inside core of the rope that we cut out during the process! Jaz is not convinced it's a keeper.

This rope has all its strength on the outside braided part so part of the core was removed and the outside was spliced into itself from each end. (If that makes any sense!) It kind of feels magical when the pieces pull into place!
The white stitching as the final step is called whipping. Some may recall Paul dancing with a past whipped rope 😂

Finally! Diane is back at the boat and we put formal markings on today. The adventure included actually moving the boat and practicing side docking, decal application, and managing to get back into our berth at the marina.
Soon we will be venturing further. Tomorrow, though, is a public holiday and our anniversary. Nice of them to celebrate with us 🥳

We took the bus to Tarragona today. It's about an hour away. We needed our EPIRB programmed with our identification and emergency contact information and had to take it in to someone qualified for that. So...we did a bit of touring! The Amphitheater and Basilica were the highlights. Oh, and an amazing "splurge" date lunch!

We were happy to find the recycle in the boat yard for our used oil and hazardous trash!

Then, Paul made stuffed chicken breast for dinner. Multi-talented 😍

Just a quick update. We are getting anxious to start our sailing trips but still have some pertinent projects to finish.
Our two new endless spice stropping loops are still holding. Pictures below. We have ordered one more rope for reef #2 which we didn't like the look of while installing the new reef #1 line. Ropes tend to chafe in specific places and then become untrustworthy! See the old loops below and their chafed bits.
