This is not our photo but I'm sharing it anyway! This was taken by one of out neighbor sailors who anchored out in the local bay to get a good view of the eclipse. Cool event!

This week marks the end of our season for 2026. There are a few reasons that we have to go home. Paul is at home already because there is a rule here in Spain that makes you a tax resident if you stay 183 days in a calendar year. With all the back and forth traveling Diane did and repairs taking longer than expected, we managed to use it up before sailing off to other countries! We had a great time here and learned so much about Spain and our new boat. Diane got to stay behind and finish up a few projects plus the process of closing up the boat to keep it safe in the marina until we get back.

We will spend the rest of the year exploring our Canadian backyard. VanGo is waiting to take us places!!

Just some silly pictures of me (Diane) waiting on the total solar eclipse in Spain today! The truth is...if you peek at the pictures, the mountains were kind of obstructing the view of the moments during totality. But it did get very dark and then light again. Local time for this was about 8:30 pm.

The answer to the question, "Why wasn't Paul there for the eclipse?" is complicated. More stories will follow. It's complicated to be in other countries. Especially when your plans take a turn you didn't expect.... For instance, the boat you bought had a few more required repairs than expected. These things delay sailing and then all sorts of clocks still tick....rules, rules, ....we do our best to comply!

We will update soon. Meanwhile the boat is "Lookin' Up!"

Happy Sunday! The parts stores are closed so we had a day of catch up.
Planted the first experimental batch of boat microgreens.
Did a small workout with our adjustable dumbbells.....they are great for the boat!
Healthy breakfast smoothies are still on the menu! Blueberries, kale, protein powder, prebiotics, and avocado.

Today is curry with big chunks of nice fish! Also, added a new plant to Lookin' Up....a mini peace lily.

While we continue to tackle boat stuff (known and unknown new stuff) we still have time to cook Spanish style chorizo, fish, and bean stew.
Also, a few doors....my new favorite!

Hmm. Our boat going back in the water....not so big beside that yacht. We thought of a trade up but we would need lots more crew and we like our current ones 🥰

Almost two weeks since we hauled out. It's been a bit long but cheers to our first fun meal back on the boat at the marina. Almost cleaned up and a few last things to fix. Sailing is soon!!
BTW. Air cooking with puff pastry filled with seafood and cheese works okay 😋
Also, the herb garden survived and contributed to the flavors ❤️

Today we had a choice to quit at midday or try to remove the sail drive and risk it not going great and taking longer than planned. Guess what we did?!
Haha! Well it was a sh* #* # show but we got to end with Vegemite and Cava. Sorry Paul for the crazy birthday-day! Now we relax while listening to the wind outside and the boat vibrating 😅😱 BTW. Still a great life together ❤️
