For those who haven't seen it yet, here's a first sneak peek of us collecting our sailing catamaran LEMONADE from the DYT Yacht Transporter in Fos-sur-Mer, before taking her on a 8-hour journey to Sète.
Despite her being a sailboat, the marine surveyor who inspected her prior to our acquisition had deemed it unsafe to actually *sail* her in her current condition, due to a potentially sketchy carbon mast. So, we motored instead ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It was quite a rough ride with harsh cold winds and typically choppy waves for the Med, and then one engine died... Or at least, that's what the instruments thought, after which they triggered the infamous annoying beepy alarm.
Fortunately, as expected, the engine turns out to be fine (they barely have 60 hours on them anyway, so they're almost as new), it was just the instruments that had lost connection to it. Still, there was no way to determine this yet while we were underway, so we continued on one engine just to stay on the safe side, which of course slowed us down...
Due to our delayed arrival, after the 6PM curfew, we didn't have any other choice than to spend our first night aboard! At 3 degrees 🥶 Luckily, we had warm jackets for blankets and plenty of (albeit kinda moldy) pillows on board, so we actually had quite a good night's sleep 😴
The next early morning, after passing through the bridge that only opens once a day, we could complete our last leg and dock in one of Sète's beautiful canals, where we were welcomed by our refit guy Alain and the crew from Navi-Bois, the boatyard where our refit will take place 😃
The next day, we de-masted Lemonade in order to pass under the second (defect) bridge and dock her at Navi-Bois, where she will remain for the next 3~5 months ⏳
We'll post longer, extended version of this video this week, where you'll also be able to witness our first time fiddling around in an attempt to remove the lines from the mast before we wash them, as well as an impression of some of the events that led up to this moment in the months prior to us moving to France 🇫🇷
Thanks for watching and reading, et á bientôt!
