تأسس
المصري عام 1920 ويعد أحد الأندية الشعبية بمصر والأكثر شعبية في مدينته بورسعيد، حيث لديه أكثر من مليون مشجع في مصر. أسس النادي المصري مجموعة من المصريين في بورسعيد بهدف تأكيد الهوية الوطنية لأهل المدينة بعد ثورة 1919 ليكون أول نادي للمصريين بالمدينة وبمنطقة قناة السويس بأسرها التي كانت تعج بأندية الجاليات الأجنبية التي سكنتها في هذا الوقت. كان النادي أحد المؤسسين للإتحاد المصري لكرة القدم عام 1921 كما شارك في الدوري المصري منذ انطلاقه عام 1948.
