Egypt is experiencing some pretty significant climate change impacts right now, like rising temperatures, more frequent heat waves, and increased frequency of dust storms. The Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre says we can expect these changes to get worse, with temperatures rising 2-3°C by mid-century if we don't cut greenhouse gas emissions. More heat and extreme weather is going to put pressure on resources like water and energy, and will have a bad effect on agriculture, human health and the environment.
It's going to be scorching this weekend in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, South Sinai, and the southern parts of the country, with hot and humid weather on the north coast.
It's 46 degrees in El Quseir today, and it's still getting hotter.
It's obvious that the world is changing, and so is the climate.
For us 'divers', it's dangerous even when we're in the water. We need to make sure we're hydrated, even when we're not feeling the heat.
So, to all our colleges out there, and to all our guests who are on dive holidays right now.
Just to let you know, remember to drink plenty of water!
