As a coach, I stood with Brian from Nykøbing Falster Boxing Club during the Danish Boxing Championships 2024, where Cecilie competed. The start of the season wasn’t ideal for Cecilie, and we’ve been focusing on mastering essential basics, mindset, and consistency. Due to personal matters, I’ve had to coach from a distance for a period, which added another layer of challenge.
In the semifinals, Cecilie faced Line from Aarhus, a former teammate of mine. She managed to bring everything we’ve been working on—mentally, technically, and tactically—into the ring. Unfortunately, the judges didn’t think it was enough, and she lost 3-2. Despite the result, we remain development-focused, and this was a significant step forward after a tough start to the season.
We’re back on track. This experience serves as a powerful reminder to stay consistent with what works and never underestimate the value of the “small, seemingly insignificant” strategies, even when they become routine. Even the effective tools can be refined and reignited to bring new energy and perspective.
For me, the focus is on lifting Cecilie up and emphasizing the pedagogical and psychological aspects of her growth. Being development-oriented is the key to creating sustainable progress and achieving long-term goals. It’s all about building momentum and keeping the fire burning.
