When the path I had worked hard to build, the wall against which I had placed my ladder, the trajectory I thought was for me - started feeling like a straight jacket.
It’s confronting.
All my identity was wrapped up in my corporate career path.
I was 35 when this was the case, single, no kids and no mortgage - important context. I had some flexibility and decided to do the one thing I was most scared to do - listen to the claustrophobia and make some changes.
I took the year off, walked the Camino, met Ingo, travelled and lived for a bit, most of you know that story.
There is a LOT of chat out there lately about quitting your job and changing careers and I think be very careful about buying into it. I’m kind of glad that wasn’t around back in 2018 when I took my first leap out, for sure I would have been influenced (for the wrong reasons) as I was vulnerable. They why behind your what in these moments matters a lot. And internet hype isn’t that.
