Not every difficult manager is toxic. Not every uncomfortable conversation is a red flag. And sometimes, we really do need to question our own interpretation.

But sometimes there is a pattern.

A pattern of being undermined, blamed, humiliated, controlled, intimidated, or having your boundaries repeatedly ignored.

So how do you know what you’re actually dealing with?

That’s what we’ll explore in my upcoming 90-minute online webinar:

IS MY LEADER TOXIC — OR IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME?

We’ll look at how to:

→ distinguish healthy, difficult, dysfunctional and harmful leadership
→ recognize patterns rather than isolated incidents
→ reality-check your experience without automatically dismissing yourself
→ identify genuine red flags
→ understand what you can do when something isn’t okay
→ decide what your next step might be

Stepping into the Laurel forest felt like nothing I’ve ever experienced.

An ancient ecosystem that covered much of Europe millions of years ago now survives only here on Madeira. Even that knowledge feels mysterious — but what you encounter there goes far beyond what words or pictures can hold.

It feels like meeting the spirit of something very old and deeply wise — silent, yet fully present.
And in that presence, there’s no space for thoughts or worries… only what is.

A truly transcendental experience ✨

Our world is much bigger than mind can grasp. But we can’t see it… We tend to get trapped in our thoughts, catching tails of our fears just to hold onto something familiar, onto illusionary ideas about happiness that once was or once will come. But where is it - back there or in front in the future? If it is not here and now it is nowhere. It is like a carrot before the donkey’s eyes. All we actually have is this moment and life is happening only right now. If we look into it, we start seeing what actually is. All the rest is a dream.

This question stayed with me after last week’s systemic coaching training.

And it made me think… It raises a bigger question. Just read deeply into it: 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒊𝒕𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇.

❓What would our work look like if we served life itself? not just targets, KPIs, expectations, or our own ambition?

❓What if leaders served the long-term health of the system, not short-term validation? And what if the system enabled it at the first place?

❓What if consultants served clarity, not dependency?

⁉️What would our world look like if we served life itself, and not our fear?

Serving life itself means asking:

• Is this decision strengthening the system or just protecting my position?
• Am I acting from fear, ego, or alignment?
• Does this create vitality or silent compliance?

It’s a demanding standard.

Because it confronts our ego: our need to look successful, to be right, to be liked, to control outcomes etc.

Serving life itself requires 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲.

It asks us to think BEYOND ourselves — beyond our targets and personal ambitions.

And maybe that’s the real leadership edge.

Not doing more. But serving what allows the system to stay alive, adaptive, and honest.

That’s uncomfortable work.

But it might be the most responsible work we can do.

After one week in dear to my heart Olde Vechte Foundation diving into systemic coaching, I am bringing back more than new insights.

I realized that systemic competence is not about having specific framework or questions, but about seeing what others overlook.

As Demian Burgenik told us, “You must look at the clouds without seeing the clouds”. 👀

It sounds abstract. But in systemic work, it makes perfect sense.

In organizations, we tend to see the clouds:

☁️ visible behavior.
🌩️ conflict.
☁️ disengaged employee.
☁️ underperformance.
🌩️ tension in the meeting.

And we react to that 👉☁️☁️☁️

Systemic coaching trains a different muscle — not to get hypnotized by what is visible. But rather to ask:

❓What is producing this pattern?
❓What structure makes this behavior logical?
❓What is the system trying to stabilize?

When we only react to the clouds, we manage symptoms.

When we understand the pressure underneath the system, change becomes sustainable.

This is the competence I’m intentionally deepening 👉 Seeing beyond what is obvious.
Working where the real leverage sits.
