Locked shoulders myth:

Millions of years of evolution have equipped us with a complex musculoskeletal system. However, many fitness advisors seem to ignore this fact. One of the most popular principles used in compound movements is locking the shoulders by retracting the scapula (scapular retraction).

Your shoulders are supposed to move, not stay locked in one position. Compound pulling, pushing, overhead and hanging movements often need a mix of depression, upward rotation, protraction, and retraction rather than constant retracted scapula.

Every athlete realizes this sooner or later.

Years ago, I had a dream. My aim was to improve my strength every day and master my bodyweight skills until I die.

However, after pushing my own body to the extreme each day, every athlete realizes it will not last forever.

Now my aim is different: to keep doing what I love. However, I cannot do it the same way anymore. 💔

I miss the mode where I could test my limits day by day. But I’ve come to understand that progress isn’t only about intensity. It’s also about longevity, adaptation, and learning how to stay in the game for as long as possible.
