PGA - MID MONTHLY COMP (Sun 19 July)

Rain ☔️, Snow ❄️ or Wind 💨 were nowhere in sight on another beautiful Sunny 🌞 day at Elea! 😎
Heat warnings for Sunday & the rest of the week were however 🔥🥵🫣… but did not deter the participating PGA members. 🏌️‍♀️⛳️🏌🏽‍♂️😎…. a shout out & thank you to the Elea Caddy guys who kept water bottles in plentiful supply on the course 💦⛳️💦👍.

RESULTS

WINNER - Lynne Betchley (38pnts) 💶. A great return to form for Lynne 🏌️‍♀️🥳 who missed most of the 2025 season thro’ injury.
2nd PLACE - Dave Thompson (36pnts) 💶 (on countback)
3rd PLACE - Steve Fowler (36pnts) 💶

2's Competition - Anne Majoor and Steve Fowler share the 💶 pot!👍

PGA MONTHLY COMPETITION - Secret Valley G.C. (Sun 5th July)

A return to SV for our early July competition & maybe the 🥵🔥🤬 hot temperatures was the reason for a poor turnout on the day 🏌🏽‍♂️😭🏌️‍♀️…..
It was decided that the divisional trophies 🏆 would roll over to the August Comp.

However the good & the brave of the PGA members that risked heat stroke/exhaustion 🥵 battled it out on the course & a good days golf ensued with everyone enjoying the day! 🥳….. that’s why we play ⛳️ folks!!….👍😜❤️

RESULTS:

1st Place - Chris Pugh -38 points (on count-back)
2nd Place - Paul Myrianthous - 38 points
Nearest the Pin - Andrew Storry

MID MONTHLY Competition - 28/6/26

The Cyprus summer sun 🌞 is now entering its full ‘El Scorchio’ mode 🥵 ⛳️🏌🏽‍♂️🏌️‍♀️…. Golf bags packed with water & sunblock!!!
No problem for the PGA members who braved the Elea heat, although a few bedraggled faces arrived at the 19th!😱😎

RESULTS

Overall Winner - Steve Burge - 37 points (€35 💶)

Then 3 players on 36 points???…🙏

On countback Second place - Brent Walker 36 Points (€25 💶)
On countback Third place - Andrew Wharton 36 points (€15 💶)
and a near miss Keith Gallagher 36 points 😫… so close!!

2's Competition - Barry Hobday, Ian Mckay, John Towey, Steve Burge shared the €48 pot! ⛳️

PGA - JUNE Charity Football Card - WINNER (C.P.S.G.)

Thank you to all PGA members & friends who always go ‘that extra mile’ to make sure the 2026 PGA charity is supported.
Our latest June ‘Fundraising Football ⚽️Card’ was completed today by our very generous patron’s!…🙂

This followed another great PGA ‘’Mid Monthly’ 🏌️‍♀️🏌🏽‍♂️⛳️ Competition’ at Elea…more on the results & winners early next week!

Anyway…. drum roll 🥁….. the card WINNER & 💶 €40…. Prize goes to Tom Davis… 😁👍😎

DIARY DATE- ‘PGA Annual Awards Dinner’

Dear PGA Members & friends - Please reserve THURSDAY 12th NOVEMBER in your diaries to attend and support the ‘Annual PGA/Captains Awards Dinner’

This year a more central location has been chosen for our members & their friends to enjoy the whole night!… 🍽️ 🍾 🥂.. 💃 🕺🏼 ….. 🕛 …🚕 ….💤

The Restaurant chosen by our Captain was a particular favourite of Kelvyn Bailey & his wife Christine…… ‘Gustoso’ near the ‘Tomb of the Kings’ has excellent reviews of food & service abound! We have the whole place to ourselves with plenty of onsite parking & safe taxi pickup.👍 🚕

The estimated price will be €40/person which covers a magnificent ‘Roast Buffet’ with ALL the trimmings, starters & finishers…. 🍽️ 🍖 🥣 ……. AND a ‘LIVE Singer’ to entertain all tastes!… 💃 🕺🏼……

We will update everyone further nearer the time to circulate final buffet menu and establish numbers…. The more attend the lower the €cost/person!!💶🙂

In the meantime PLEASE RESERVE THE DATE!!!…. & invite ALL your friends …. Let’s celebrate our ‘2026 Winners’ 🏆…the challenges golf presents..😫⛳️🥳🏌️‍♀️🏌🏽‍♂️😵‍💫…and the fantastic group of ‘PGA Golf Nuts’ 🏌️‍♀️⛳️🏌🏽‍♂️… that is growing from strength to strength….

An away day for the PGA members who enjoy a challenge that playing different courses can bring 🏌🏽‍♂️🏌️‍♀️
The sun was shining…. of course, this is Cyprus 🌞😎🤣…. but who would triumph on the day…. and tame this tricky course⛳️😵‍💫…. sandy 🏝️ tee boxes & gravel filled bunkers added to test!!🫣

CAPTAIN v VICE CAPTAIN (Kelvyn Bailey Shield) - Sunday 31st May 2026 Elea G.C

Glorious morning sunshine 🌞 greeted the PGA 🏌🏽‍♂️🏌️‍♀️faithful with 28 players (Red Team - Capt) & (Blue Team - V Capt) … ready to battle it out for the annual Kelvyn Bailey 🛡️Shield.

Individual Matchplay was the competition as Blue v Red 🏌🏽‍♂️🏌️‍♀️was carefully matched in each 4-ball….but which team would triumph..??🫣….

The day was also to help raise funds 💶 for our nominated charity (C.P.S.G) with a raffle (great prizes to be won), wrist band sales, bids 💶 for two special prizes & kind donations….. We’re very pleased to report that €590 was raised on the day!! 🙂.
Thank you 👏 to all who attended & everyone who bought tickets & donated prizes. 🥳🥳

The RESULT….
A drink 🍺🥂, courtesy of the Capt & V. Capt welcomed the returning teams at the 19th… ⛳️ …. but which team had won?

Two former captains currently have their names on the Shield… but on the day our Vice Captains’ (Sharon Watson 🏌️‍♀️) Team Blue was triumphant & a nice bottle of wine to each winning player….. cheers! 🍷

Thank you also to the Elea staff for again looking after us so well & the complimentary food (nibbles) trays were very welcome & appreciated! 👍😁

A great day was had by all and we’re sure Kelvyn would have been smiling down on everyone… a great PGA member on the course ⛳️ & committee… we remember him fondly…🏌🏽‍♂️

MID MONTHLY MEDAL - 17th May

A good turnout as more members return to the Island for the weather 😎🏝️ 🌞 and of course ‘Top class PGA Golf 🏌🏽‍♂️🏌️‍♀️’…… 🙂

The wind 💨 was blowing in all directions so a tough challenge for the players, but who would triumph on the day!?…

RESULTS

1st Place 🥇 - Paul Majoor 36pnts 💶 (on count back)
2nd Place - John Towey 36pnts 💶
3rd Place - Ross Burns 35pnts 💶

Only one Winner on the 2’s Comp - on form John Towey took all the €52 💶 💶 prize money. 👍

Well played to All who hit 30+ today on very tricky course conditions!! 😵‍💫⛳️🏌️‍♀️🏌🏽‍♂️

As our handicap secretary so succinctly put it: PGA 0 - Weather 1 ☔️….. 🏌🏽‍♂️🏌️‍♀️😖

However here’s the result (see below) from the latest Charity Football Card which was drawn at last weeks PGA v Ferndown match!

Congrats to ‘Frets’ (Ferndown Capt) who picked the last team on the card & WON!!.. 💶 🫣🤩😂… he also donated the €40 prize to our charity… respect sir! 👏
