Running in Cyprus, along with the TUI Cyprus Marathon, in an effort to raise awareness for the altruistic life’s work and the athletic achievements of Stelios Kyriakides, are organising a Virtual Race in his memory.

As he was born in Pafos in 1910, the 𝐓𝐔𝐈 𝐂𝐲𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧, organised in Pafos, is dedicated to this Marathon Legend.

𝟖𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐊𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 (𝟐𝟎/𝟎𝟒/𝟏𝟗𝟒𝟔).

Probably the greatest Marathon Legend of Greece & Cyprus who won the Boston Marathon in 1946 and then returned to Greece with the “Kyriakides Aid Package” of 25,000 tons of medical and food supplies along with $250,000 in cash from donations. An inspiring person who was not only a pioneer in his athletic efforts but also compassionate and charitable in his everyday life.

The least we can do as runners is run the symbolic 7.7km in remembrance of him.

🏅 All participants can run the distance of 7.7km between 20/04 and 30/04. As a sign of appreciation, all participants will receive a custom Medal of Stelios Kyriakides. The delivery will be done through the ACS of your choice. There is an optional t-shirt with the emblem he wore while winning the 1946 Boston Marathon.

Let’s raise awareness for this great human that changed the course of running and altruism.

🏛️ Η 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐲𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐬 παρουσιάζει το 1ο επεισόδιο της σειράς "𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬".

Ένα ταξίδι στον χρόνο, από την αρχαία Ελλάδα στους πρώτους Γυμναστικούς Συλλόγους της Κύπρου το 1892, τους πρώτους Κύπριους Μαραθωνοδρόμους αλλά και τη μετάβαση της Κύπρου στη διεθνή αθλητική σκηνή.

🎙️ Καλεσμένος μας ο κ. Αντώνης Δράκος, ένας άνθρωπος που έζησε και κατέγραψε την ιστορία του κυπριακού στίβου όσο λίγοι.
