Does Taekwondo make children more aggressive?

It’s a common misconception but when Taekwondo is taught correctly, the opposite is true.

We asked Master Petros to dispel the myth and explain how Taekwondo teaches children self-control, respect and responsibility both inside and outside the studio.

The goal isn’t to encourage aggression. It’s to help children understand discipline, manage their emotions and build the confidence to believe in themselves. 💪

On August 27.2026, I had accepted the invitation to visit Master Vasos Panagi Taekwondo school in Ypsonas-Limassol where I conducted a technical seminar as well as 1st and 2nd Dan Black Belt examinations.

Congratulations to all the students who successfully passed their examinations and progressed to the next level.

Congratulations also to everyone who, despite the high temperatures of the Cyprus summer, continues to stay active and show commitment and dedication to Traditional Taekwon-Do—not only as a martial art, but as a way of life, 12 months of the year.

At our studio, children can begin their Taekwondo journey from as young as 4 years old, developing important foundations such as balance, coordination, discipline, focus and confidence.

But the truth is, there’s no “perfect” age and it’s never too late to start.

What matters most is finding the right environment and the right instructor: one that supports, guides and challenges each student at their own pace.
