Algunos de ustedes saben que colecciono palmeras. Algunas mueren cuando son jóvenes a causa de un escarabajo que se come su corazón. La única forma de matar al escarabajo es ahogarlo en agua con jabón. En este caso, mi jardinero echó 2 litros de jabón en el hueco y ¡aparecieron dos escarabajos a aproximadamente un metro de profundidad! ¡Qué criaturas horribles!

Some of you know I collect palm trees. Some of them are killed when young by a beetle that eats their heart. The only way to kill the beetle is to drown it in soapy water. Here my gardener poured 2 liters of soap in the jp;r and two beetles came out from about 1 meter deep! Horrible creatures.

With local labor we built a rainwater harvesting system to support watering of the durian during the dry season. The well is too far away and I didn't want to mess with a pump without on site security. The catchment area is 6x3 meters and a 3 inch pvc pipe is used instead of a true gutter. Storage is a 750 liter bicapa tank.
