2 years ago, we met a local buyer.
He was a very experienced cross-border e-commerce seller, operating on several platforms including Amazon, eBay, 👍 AliExpress, and own website.
His first words to us were:
"I don't lack products; what I lack are new products that can generate profit for me." 🥲
The sleeping bags he sold mainly bought from other suppliers, and the prices were indeed cheap.
But the problem was also obvious:
There were too many similar products on the market.
Almost all sellers sell the same styles, functions, and cheaper prices. Sellers were constantly lowering prices to increase sales.
The result was: increasingly quality risk and profit lower.
He realized that continuing to lower prices wouldn't allow the brand to go far. What was truly needed was differentiation.
So, we began discussing new product directions together.
From target user analysis to feature design and market positioning, we communicated and tested repeatedly.
Ultimately, we settled on a more differentiated down sleeping bag solution.
After the new product launched, it didn't immediately generate a surge in orders like the regular model.
But surprisingly, within just half year, the goods sold out. 🤗
This not only brought in repeat customers but also attracted more new consumers to the brand.
More importantly, he received a large number of genuine 4.5+ star positive reviews. 🤩
The customer told us with a smile:
"This time, we really made money in US dollars."
At that moment, we convinced of one thing:
The competition in e-commerce is never about who sells the cheapest. It's about who can create higher value.
Facts have proven that: a low price doesn't necessarily mean good quality; nor does high sales volume guarantee profitability.
Truly valuable products help brands differentiate themselves, improve user experience, gain better reputation, and ultimately lead to healthier, more sustainable profits. ☺️
As suppliers, our greatest joy not only receiving orders, but seeing our clients grow by finding the right product direction.
Good partnerships are never just about supply and demand; it's about finding market opportunities together and building a strong brand together.
