WAKO as the international organization, since the very beginning, acted as the authentic Kickboxing Federation in the world. WAKO organizes bi-annually Continental and World Championships (in all seven disciplines) and World and Continental Cups and Open tournaments, for cadets and juniors and for seniors, both male and female divisions, where only national teams are accepted. Peace and Sport. Today, WAKO counts 147 affiliated countries in 5 continents, which are officially recognized by their National Olympic Committees or by their highest Government sport authorities. WAKO ensures development in-line with the Olympic Movement and its various Charters, whose principles are integrated into all documents and policies of WAKO organization. With its modern marketing and media strategy, WAKO has gained over 250,000 fans on social media platforms. Sport kickboxing can be practiced on competitive or recreational level, but for sure it is a sport designed to improve overall health, strength and endurance.

Kickboxing is Ready for Its Debut at the Mediterranean Games 2026!

The countdown is over!
Kickboxing is set to make its historic debut at the Mediterranean Games 2026, with athletes from Türkiye, Spain, Portugal, Montenegro, Kosovo, Italy, Israel, Greece, France, and Croatia ready to step into the K1 ring.

Competition will take place across five men’s and five women’s weight categories, bringing together some of the region’s top fighters for this landmark event.

The program begins on 31 July with accreditation (10:00–16:00), followed by the Coaches’ Meeting and the official Draw at 16:00. The opening day concludes with the quarterfinal bouts, starting at 17:30.

On 1 August, the action continues with the semifinals and finals, beginning at 10:00, followed by the medal ceremonies.

All delegations will depart on 2 August, marking the conclusion of kickboxing’s first-ever appearance at the Mediterranean Games.

WAKO PanAm President Paulo Zorello believes that agreement with FISU is another significant milestone for WAKO.
He said that WAKO PanAm has already signed an agreement with FISU Americas and from 2027 Kickboxing will officially participate in all events on the official University calendar in Americas.
With this agreement, from now on WAKO will provide even more opportunities for its athletes internationally.
Step by step, achievement by achievement WAKO is paving the way for the successful presentation of kickboxing on the international sports stage.
