A summer weekend is a time to plan your open water travels. For those living north and south of the Alps, the next weekend of June 19 and 20 is full of events. The cozy and warm Lombardian lake Monate hosts a stage of the already legendary Italian Open Water Tour. The lake is only half an hour away from the Swiss border or Milan, between the Maggiore and Varese lakes. The strongest amateur swimmers from North Italy are going to participate. The record of 2020 was only 62 minutes for the 5 kilometers race. The 2.5km and 900m relay races are also available.

If you prefer seawater and think that five kilometers are too fast to enjoy, then head south towards the Ligurian coast, where the 16 km race “Grand Fondo Cinque Terre” will take place on the 20th of June. Picturesque views on the cliffy Genoese coast and its colourful medieval villages are practically guaranteed.

The same weekend races in Constance lake (5, 10km), Venice (3.5km), France, Spain, Britain, and Russia are planned.

Quite an impressive swim that was added recently:

In summer 2021 on July 12-13 only 8 marathon swimmers from different countries will gather on the shores of the greatest, deepest and yet unconquered lake Baikal. They will have to cross Baikal as well as part of Siberia along the great Angara river. Starting in the Far East, finishing in the capital of Eastern Siberia, the old city of Irkutsk.

30 hours without sleep and rest changing each other, 120 kilometers.

The weather is getting warmer - at least here in Zurich - and we open-water-swimmers are starting to plan our season for 2021.

For these athletes, we (Andrey Sheyko and Silvan Mühlemann) have built https://open-water-swims.com. This website is helping you to find the best swim events in Europe. You choose the desired distance and a time range, and the site shows you matching events. We have collected 180 events so far; many contain a description, entry fee, or even maps of the racecourse.

You will find your favorite series: Oceanman, Italian Open Water Tour, Open Swim Stars Harmonie Mutuelle - La France à la nage, Marnaton in Spain.

We add new events as they are published and reported to us. If you see that something is missing, let us know!
