Just a quick clarification about accommodation.
Montreux is a small town and its hotel capacity is limited, so hotels in Montreux itself can sell out quickly and prices can rise, especially around major events like the Freddie Days. That said, it is not true that “everything is sold out” for September, there are still plenty of rooms available in the region at reasonable prices.
We strongly recommend looking in Vevey, Villeneuve and nearby towns. Vevey, for example, is very convenient, around 20 minutes away by bus, with frequent services during the day and into late evening, as well as regular train connections.

In big cities such as Paris, London or New York, it is completely normal to spend 30 minutes or more getting from point A to point B. Here, staying in Vevey, Villeneuve or La Tour-de-Peilz is the same idea, it is simply a different town name, not an inconvenient journey.
Switzerland’s public transport is reliable, comfortable and frequent, and the surrounding area is very well connected to Montreux by bus and train. Please use it to your advantage, there are still plenty of rooms available in the region, especially as buses are free for guests staying in hotels with the Montreux Riviera Card.
