Coming straight from a 12-hour Spinathon to raise funds for the club, our U18s recently celebrated topping the league with a well-earned day out in Flynn Park.

We couldn’t be prouder of this group of players. Many of them have been under Derek’s guidance for the past 10 years, a testament to both their commitment and his dedication. Derek was one of the very first volunteers to step forward when the junior section was launched a decade ago, and it’s fair to say that group struck gold.

With the recent addition of David to the coaching team, the squad has gone from strength to strength. Together, they’ve built something really special both in terms of performance and team spirit.

A fantastic achievement and a brilliant group on and off the pitch.

Called out on the day were:

Johnathan Kelly - Player of the year
Jason Warren - Improved player of year
Charley Hackett - Top Goal Scorer (19)
Charlie Plunkett (3rd) Best goal of season v Artane
Charley Hackett (2nd) Best goal v Rush Athletic
Jeremie Vungbo (1st) Best goal v Donnacarney

Prize giving season is upon us in the club and our U13's spent a fabulous morning in Flynn Park on Saturday to celebrate!

Shout out to the following players who were called out on the day:

*AJ Murphy - Coaches Player of the Year*

*Daniel Browne - Players Player of the Year*

*Tom Bolger - Top Goal Scorer 2025/26*

*Ruadhan Ferguson - Coaches Most Improved Player*

*Ben Healy - Players Most Improved Player*

But team sports is not about individuals. Playing in the A division for the first time, this season was not without its challenges but the lads kept the heads and stuck together to end on a high and we're incredibly proud of them for that.

2026/27 looks to be an exciting season with some new players recently joining the team and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and develop as a group.

Huge thanks to Darragh, Rory & John for giving up so much of their time not only to coach the lads but also to arrange their trip to Netherlands in March and the blitz in April.

It was certainly a season to remember!

🚴‍♂️ Support Our U18s Spinathon Fundraiser 🚴‍♀️

Our incredible U18 team will be outside Spar tomorrow taking on a Spinathon to raise much‑needed funds for our club and we’d love your support!

This group is really important to the club. Not only have they just been crowned league champions, but they are also the only team in the club who have been together since U8 level, a full 10 years of dedication, teamwork and growth. An amazing journey, guided by Derek from the very beginning, with David joining the coaching team more recently.

This Spinathon is a fantastic way to celebrate their achievement and support the future of our club but we can’t do it without you.

U13A Match Report
Swords Manor V Balrothery Knights

The lads carried the momentum from Thursday night’s win into this morning’s league fixture away to Swords Manor.

After conceding a quick early goal, the heads never dropped and the game quickly settled into an end‑to‑end contest. Balrothery responded well, with Tom Bolger leading the fightback to fire home the equaliser. Despite battling hard, the lads conceded again, but it was Tom Bolger who stepped up again, grabbing his second of the game to level matters at 2–2.

From there, Balrothery took control with further goals from Adam and Zachery which extended the lead, meaning we went in at half time 4–2 ahead.

Swords pulled one back in the second half to make it a tense contest, but Balrothery showed great composure. A superb corner delivery from AJ Murphy was turned into another goal, restoring the two‑goal cushion and sealing the result.

The game finished 5–3, with an excellent all‑round team performance and the goals shared across the side.

A brilliant win for the lads, built on resilience, clinical finishing, and some quality attacking play.

U14A Match Report
Baldoyle V Balrothery Knights

With a score line that probably flatters the performance, this can best be described as a game the Knights managed to get through.
With the evening light waning, the Knights flew out of the gates with high intensity. In quick succession, sharp passing and movement, coupled with inch‑perfect balls in behind from Kyle, saw Cian rack up a very early hat‑trick, just 15 minutes into the match.

The opposition were asleep for those opening minutes, but once they came alive they really took control of the game. From then on it was a battle. The Knights looked disjointed and lackluster at times. A fine performance from the opposition’s number 22, leading from the front, orchestrated a resurgence, and with a few minutes left in the first half they pulled one back.

Early in the second half, another goal further motivated the home side. However, the Knights dug in and managed to keep them at bay. With 10 minutes to go, Joe Carroll burst up the wing, showing great strength to hold off his defender before powering a shot into the corner of the net to make it 4–2 and seal the win.

All in all, a good win on a very dark night.

Player of the Match was Cian, with a lovely hat‑trick.

We’ll be putting in an order for night‑vision goggles this year.

U14 Match Report
Balrothery V St Ita’s FC

On a bright Sunday morning, Balrothery Knights U14 produced one of their most complete performances of the season, securing an excellent 4–1 victory over league leaders St Ita’s FC.

There was a great buzz around the ground before kick-off, and the Knights carried that energy into a strong opening spell. The first fifteen minutes were evenly contested, but the home side looked sharper going forward, with Joe and Franek both going close early on.

The breakthrough came in the 17th minute after a determined run from captain Andrew earned a free-kick. Conor’s effort was well saved, but James Richardson reacted quickest to convert the rebound and put the Knights 1–0 up. St Ita’s threatened briefly but Balrothery stayed composed and doubled their lead when Conor powered home a header from a perfectly delivered corner by Sean.
A late St Ita’s goal just before half-time reduced the deficit to 2–1, but Balrothery responded superbly after the break.

The Knights dominated the second half, helped by energetic contributions from the bench, while Jamie was assured in goal and the defence stood firm throughout.

The third goal arrived when Franek finished well after good work down the flank, giving the Knights breathing space at 3–1. The result was sealed in style late on, as Sean curled a magnificent free-kick in off the bar to cap a superb team performance.

A deserved win and a real statement against the league leaders, built on teamwork, hard work, and quality across the pitch.

Player’s Player of the Match: Sean

U12B Match Report
Rush V Balrothery FC

Cracking game this morning against Rush, played at a great intensity from start to finish. The Knights showed real character and never gave up, continuing to battle right to the final whistle.

We created plenty of chances throughout the game, with at least six clear opportunities in front of goal. After some lovely flicks, tricks, and positive attacking play around the opposition goalkeeper, unfortunately nothing quite came off for us on the scoresheet 🤣

Despite the result, there were some excellent performances across the pitch, with great effort, teamwork, and determination shown by everyone involved.

Most importantly, the lads came off the pitch smiling, having given their all and at this level, that’s the main thing.

U18 Match Report
Balrothery V Laytown Utd

We welcomed Laytown this morning for a top-of-the-table clash, and it was a great morning for football. Still carrying some injuries and a few unavailabilities, we went into the contest with the bare 11—but what a shift and performance the lads delivered.

In an even contest, we took the lead with a great finish from Jason Warren to go in 1–0 up at half-time. We had a slightly sloppy start to the second half but soon regained our composure and went 2–0 up through Fionn.

Laytown came back at us and were kept at bay thanks to a superb save from Kyle in goal and some outstanding defending. They eventually pulled one back to put the result in the balance, but we finished strongly, scoring two more goals on the break through Jeremie and Eoin.

Very proud of the performance—rightly so. As always, the lads received fantastic support from the sidelines.

We march on to next week ⚽️⚽️⚽️

U12C Match Report
Balrothery V Portrane

The Knights took on Portrane today at home in Parc de Balrotheree.

Conditions were great for a great game of football. Two strong teams battled it out in a competitive match.

Solid defending and goalkeeping across the board secured our second clean sheet in a row. Four excellent goals followed, combining moments of individual brilliance with well-worked team moves.

Morgo (2), who was also Player of the Match, Oisín D (1), and Burkey (1) were on the scoresheet.

This win puts us top of the league by 3 points, with a game in hand over second place.

Thanks to all the parents who came along to support the team and helped with the clear-up afterwards.
