I know you hear it all the time—you need to strength train!!

The most common struggle I hear from people is they KNOW they need to do it; but don’t know what, when, or how long, or how that should be paired with running.

There are definitely considerations to make while in different phases of your running cycle; and it’s important to use it wisely! Just like running—strength training needs to be periodized.

There is a delicate balance of doing enough, but not doing too much. Listen to your body—your strength sessions should HELP you, not hinder you. If you feel so sore, so tired and so overwhelmed from strength training, it’s a good indicator what you’re doing may not be optimal for you.

My athletes are often shocked to see upper body and even pull ups in their plan—but truth is running is a FULL body sport, which means you need to strength train your full body.

🚨Client spotlight 🚨

has been a client of mine off and on since 2019!

When we met our personalities instantly clicked, and I’m so glad we have got to form such a great relationship both in the gym and outside the gym.

Sam has come such a long way in many aspects of her training, but my favourite would have to be her consistency and strength.

If you know me you know I love an early morning workout, and try to encourage folks to try it out as I often see the pattern where people are so tired at the end of their work day, they skip their works outs in the evening. Sam was falling victim to this pattern and struggling to maintain consistency. She is now fully converted to early morning workouts and can often be seen pacing at the doors at 5am and irritated if the doors aren’t open right on time 😂

As a coach something I’m passionate about, especially with female clients is encouraging them to lift heavy and learn how to use a barbell. Sam was intimidated by the squat rack, and exclusively squat with the smith machine. Though there was nothing wrong with that I knew Sam was capable of learning how to squat with a barbell and rack. She went from smith machine, to requiring a pad to squat with the barbell, to squatting comfortably without the pad and had progressed to 160 pounds. She is well on her way to her goal of squatting 2 plates!

It’s been so fun seeing her progress in the gym, watching her confidence increase and the best part is she was inspired to get certified as a personal trainer herself (she crushed her exam obv)

Seeing her shift her mindset from obsessing over her weight on the scale to focusing on the weight she’s adding on to the bar is something that will never get old!

So proud to call you a client and friend, I cannot wait to see you crush all your goals.

-certified run coaching
-cerified personal trainer (online, comes with instructional videos, clear instructions, and option to sync with your wearable device so I can view your stats and give feedback)
-certified nutritionist (I use a balanced approach that doesn’t include strict meal plans, teaching you the value and content of your food, and using your hand as measurements so you can ditch the food scale!!)
