Root and Reach Pilates We teach Pilates and we're here to support you in feeling strong, capable, and happy in your body We offer weekly live online group classes to anyone in Canada.

Our little studio is made up of two Pilates teachers who are passionate about empowering bodies through exercise that is easy to access, encouraging, and effective. We do our best to nurture a "body neutral" environment in all our classes and on social media. We care more about how you feel rather than how you look, and we want you to leave our classes feeling strong and ready for anything! Our group classes are offered through Zoom, so you’re not just following along to a video or stream. We attentively watch and guide our students and keep our class sizes small so that we can make sure to give everyone personal attention and useful feedback. We also offer group mat classes and private studio apparatus sessions in person out of our physical studio in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Both classes are being offered as level 1-2, so they’re open to experienced clients as well as newcomers who are body-aware and who already have a regular movement practice.

If you’re currently enrolled in our studio group classes and you would like to continue with your spot for the November-December semester, good news: re-enrollment is now open on our website.

This week is reserved for currently enrolled clients to re-register for their space(s). On Saturday, any of our existing clients (past or present) can take remaining open spots in our group classes.

On Sunday, registration will open to everyone everywhere, and we’ll be sending out our penultimate 2026 newsletter (which will include invitations to some really lovely hyggeligt events).

Classes will run from November 1 to December 23, after which the committed semester will wrap up for the holiday season but group classes may continue to be offered on a drop-in basis for folks who would like to continue with their practice until the new year.

“You will develop muscular power with corresponding endurance, ability to perform arduous duties, to play strenuous games, to walk, run or travel for long distances without undue body fatigue or mental strain and this by no means is the end.”

Never not in love with my classical reformer from The Pilates Architects Workshop After its arrival a year ago, it has quickly become one of my favourite apparatus in the studio for my personal practice 💛

Speaking for myself, I strongly prefer 98% of the traditional Pilates reformer exercises on a classical reformer — they just feel ✨right✨. If I’m going to do leg circles though, I’m still going to pick the contemporary reformer for those 😆

If you’re curious about the differences in designs and you’d like to try it for yourself, feel welcome to book a 1:1 with me and we can enthusiastically nerd out together 😆

Research studies have shown that it’s more likely for someone’s physical activity/exercise/movement practices to be sustainable and consistent when they are ✨intrinsically motivated✨ Meaning: You’ll probably do best with moving your body when you find a type of exercise that you genuinely enjoy ☀️

These days, it’s a popular mindset to optimize and “maxx” everything, and lots of people think they need to find the most perfect workout that checks all the health boxes with maximum efficiency. So many of us tell ourselves we SHOULD be doing a certain type of workout, even if we hate it.

BUT in reality we’re better off and healthier doing stuff that sparks joy that we can do consistently. When it comes to your health, weekly Zumba is going to beat out monthly weightlifting, a daily 25 minute walk is going to do more than one monthly 3-hr run, and regular pickleball with your friends is better than an occasional boot camp. If you hate the gym, find something you don’t hate 😆
