I wanted to take a moment to recognize the incredible growth and success of female hockey at Trinity Placentia during the 2025–2026 season.
It has been amazing to watch the confidence, skills, and passion for the game grow within both our U7/U9 and U11 girls programs. A huge thank you goes out to all of the coaches who dedicated their time and energy to helping each player develop throughout the season. In our U7/U9 division, we were fortunate to have an all-female coaching staff — some of whom do not even have children of their own in hockey. Their dedication has not only inspired the young girls in the program, but female players across the entire Trinity Placentia Minor Hockey Association.
Congratulations to:
• Coach Heather Hutchings on receiving a BFL Women in Coaching Award from Hockey Canada.
• Coach Brooke Taylor on receiving the Top Scorer award at The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Memorial High School Hockey Tournament.
• Coach Bethany Pitcher on receiving the Top Forward award in the WJAHL.
Our U11 girls had an incredible season and should be extremely proud of everything they accomplished. Throughout the year, they worked hard and supported each other every step of the way — cheering each other on, lifting each other up after tough games, and celebrating every success together. The older girls became wonderful role models and mentors for the younger players, helping build confidence, friendships, and a true love for the game. Their teamwork and determination helped them keep the Eric Clarke Memorial Banner at home and bring the Provincial Banner back from Twillingate.
I also want to recognize all of the female players who played with other teams this season. Both Hailyn McCarthy and Bree Wooman played with the U13 CTP Devils and also won the provincial banner with their team. I hope that each and every one of you had a fantastic year, continued to grow your love for hockey, and made many great memories along the way.
Looking ahead to next season, I am excited to see female hockey continue to grow within our association and build back to where it once was. I can’t wait to see what these girls accomplish in the years ahead.
