A person working towards mastery of “SYSTEMA” gradually acquires a great deal of extremely valuable universal knowledge and skills, which he or she extensively uses in everyday life: private life, professional activities, relations with other people, solving problems arising from stressful tight situations, etc. No matter which objectives a person had in mind, when he or she starts doing SYSTEMA,
the skills he acquires lead to the same result – growth of his/her personality, physical, psychological and spiritual development and improved health. One can observe several closely welded aspects of SYSTEMA that are shared with trainees:
Psychological aspect – development and invigoration of the trainees’ psyche;
Physical aspect – development of physical body and its abilities;
Health aspect - trainees health improvement;
Special-Purpose aspect – achievement of high level results in any kind of activity, including a professional one;
Social aspect – prepare trainees to adapt to different social conditions, including the unfavourable;
The spiritual aspect – spiritual development of a trainee, building a system of his or her values and goals. Activities found in class are unique to the Russian Systema training traditions. Movement techniques for defense against single or multiple opponents, unarmed or with weapons. Physical techniques are mostly practiced in slow motion with focus on breathing. Full speed grappling or sparring drills are practiced only by students choosing to do so. There is no obligation (only encouragement) to participate in any activity. The fact that a student willingly participates in our chalenges is what makes all the difference in experiencing and understanding the System. For example, a person forced to hold their breath in just one circumstance beyond their will can carry that emotional stress with them for many years, but as soon as a person chooses to undertake that pressure in Systema training at his/her own will, many benefits will be experienced. To name a few, clarity of psyche, control of rage and emotions, enhanced circulatory system, and stronger character qualities like humility, patience and courage. Systema training creates an atmosphere where practitioners can face and learn to deal with challenge appropriately, in a safe environment. It’s training drills are designed for fast learning and practical application. Managing adverse situations is common to everyone, and dealing with them with Grace, Respect and Love takes practice. Systema is a discipline for achieving optimal health, managing stress and acquiring survival skills that apply to anyone, regardless of their profession. Class progressions do not repeat, keeping the training fresh and exciting. Full time students will find a steady balance of activities that are fun, challenging, and relaxing. The stresses of daily living are such that people rarely begin classes feeling their best, yet upon leaving, will feel a deep and renewed awareness of themselves and others.
