Market Haul!
Your workout is important but don’t underestimate the power of movement throughout the day. If possible, Increase it and vary it.
-If you can, walk to the market, cafe, office.
-Hang your laundry (gives your shoulder some healthy movement).
-If you’re walking upstairs, don’t load yourself down, instead, make a couple of trips.
-Park further away.
-Carry stuff. Sometimes heavy stuff. It’s loading for your bones and muscles.
That may look like walking to the market for groceries or hiking with a bit of a load in your knapsack.
-Get off the train or bus a stop before.
And don’t forget to sit on the floor!
Even if it’s just for 5-10 minutes. It allows your body to be in postures and positions that you miss when standing and sitting in chairs. If you’re sitting with your legs crossed, you’re opening your tight hips. Sitting with your legs outstretched is nice on your knees and great for your hamstrings.
More importantly, the floor isn’t as comfortable as the couch so you’re shifting and changing positions every little while. Voila, you’re varying your movement.
Our bodies need variety and like to be challenged to maintain mobility.
