One of the biggest misconceptions about coaching is that it’s about fixing problems.

It isn't. At least not inside the Zone of Aliveness.

A client sent me this message recently:
"𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯, 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳, 𝘥𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘰 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵."

The gratitude was beautiful.

But the word that grabbed me was 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨.

Because curiosity changes everything.

Most people try to grow by judging themselves into change.

But lasting change rarely comes from self-criticism. It comes from becoming genuinely interested in yourself – your patterns, desires, fears, assumptions, and possibilities.

Curiosity creates space.
Space creates choice.
Choice creates movement.
Movement creates aliveness.

That’s why one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself isn’t more discipline.

It’s a deeper willingness to wonder: “𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦?” That’s where so many transformations begin.

If you want to thrive, you can’t do it alone.

One of the biggest myths in personal growth is that transformation is an inside job.

Inner work matters. But you don’t just grow by changing what’s within you. You grow by changing what you’re in.

Your nervous system is personal. But it was shaped relationally.

This means that aliveness isn’t just an individual experience.

It thrives on the conversations you have, the boundaries you hold, the environments you're immersed in, and the relationships that either expand or contract your capacity to be yourself.

Inside the Zone of Aliveness™, we don't just look at what's happening within a person.

We look at the conditions that support or suppress their Energy, Voice, Presence, and Action.

Because thriving isn't a solo project.

It's a relational one.

I spent the last week immersed in , a retreat hosted by Selena Soo exploring the power of relationships, generosity & community in building a thriving business.

What stood out was something I’ve always valued but don’t always see in high calibre rooms: a genuine desire to see other people succeed.

Throughout the retreat, people were sharing introductions, relationships, visibility, opportunities, and access… the very things many successful people guard most closely.

I'll be honest.

My experience with generosity in professional relationships is that it can sometimes feel transactional - something to be exchanged, tracked, or eventually repaid.

This room felt different. The builders and creators in this room weren't operating that way.

People opened doors, made introductions, shared expertise, and used their influence to create opportunities for others - not because they expected something in return, but simply because they could.

It was extraordinarily refreshing to see builders and creators operating this way. I felt myself leaning in.

I saw generous people who genuinely didn't view someone else's success as a threat to their own. They viewed it as something worth contributing to.

I left with a shift in understanding: Generosity is an act of possibility. It's using your relationships, reputation, influence, and trust to both expand what's possible for another human being - and being willing to fully receive that same generosity in return. At its core, it says: "I see you. I believe in you." “Come with me”.

I believe we rise faster together. Every introduction, open door, and act of advocacy has the potential to bring more life into someone's world.

I’ve left this week wondering how we can all become a little more generous - not just with what we have, but with what we believe is possible for each other.

Thank you, Selena Soo, Lydia Klemensowicz and the Rich Relationships community, for cultivating & role modelling business growth rooted in generosity, trust, and genuine care for one another's success. What a rich and inclusive world you're building. I’m grateful to have stepped into it! ❤️

Most people aren't living their lives. They're living the stories their minds create about their lives.

One of the biggest shifts my clients make is realizing that not every thought deserves their loyalty.

A thought says you're not ready. A thought says you've missed your chance. A thought says you’ll lose everything. A thought says you'll fail.

The thought appears. It feels true, so you stop.

You shrink. You wait. You reorganize your life around a story your mind created in a moment of uncertainty.

In the Zone of Aliveness, the question isn't whether the thought is true. It's whether following that thought brings more life into you - or takes you further away from it.

Because the mind hates uncertainty. It would rather make up a story than admit it doesn't know.

The goal isn't to get rid of the thought. The goal is to stay connected to yourself while it's there, and then decide whether it deserves your attention.

That's freedom - not the absence of fearful thoughts, but the absence of blind obedience to them.

Which thought has been running your life lately?

The Aliveness Gap is one of the hidden costs of modern success.

It’s when your life keeps expanding, while your experience of being alive within it does not.

The Aliveness Gap often sounds like:

• “𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳?”

• “𝘐’𝘮 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧𝘧.”

• “𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺.”

Often, it shows up quietly: laughing less. Moving through life mechanically. Carrying what needs to be carried. Maintaining what needs to be maintained. Feeling like life has become something you manage instead of something you inhabit.

Nobody wakes up one morning in the Aliveness Gap. You arrive there gradually. Presence disappears. Energy gets depleted. Voice gets suppressed. Action disconnects from what feels true.

The gap closes when you begin asking four simple questions:

✅️ What am I actually experiencing right now?

✅️ What’s draining me, and what’s restoring me?

✅️ What truth needs to be acknowledged or expressed?

✅️ What is one honest next step?

The gap closes when self-connection grows alongside success - through Presence, Energy, Voice, and Aligned Action.

This is the path back to your 𝙕𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨.

What would change if you felt fully alive inside the life you’ve already built?

Sometimes it’s good to get out of your own world for a minute.

I’m in Toronto for a 3-day long business event this week and feeling the joy, warmth, and expansion that comes from being around thoughtful entrepreneurs who care deeply about growth, impact, and connection.

There’s something powerful about placing yourself in rooms that stretch you a little. You meet new people, hear different stories, perspectives, ambitions and ways of doing business and life.

Because visibility changes things. Access changes things. The people we meet shape what we believe is possible for ourselves - and what gets to happen because of it.

So much of life expands through proximity - through conversations, introductions, shared energy, and the courage to ask for help.

As women especially, this matters. So many of us have learned to carry too much for too long - until thriving quietly slips to the bottom of the list.

Sometimes we unknowingly place limits on ourselves - not through lack of potential, but through chronic overextension and survival-mode living.

Let’s change this.

Grateful for my trailblazing tablemates today: 🌸 Fifa Tran

A lot of people know how to sustain performance. Far fewer know how to sustain themselves.

We count what’s easy to quantify. Money. Followers. Likes. Calories. Output. Very few people measure what their success leaves behind in them.

That was the real reflection I left Obi Abuchi and Peju The Spark’s impeccable CORE Leaders International leadership conference with: What are we using as proof that we’re succeeding?

The way many of us are living and leading is fast becoming unsustainable. We’re learning how to build impressive lives while disconnecting from ourselves in the process.

What struck me most in the room was the willingness to ask harder questions about what success is costing us, and who leadership is requiring us to become - in our work, our health, and our relationships.

Timms said something that struck a deep chord in me: “I choose to step into this leadership era with elegance, grace and aura.”

That stayed with me.

Thank you for your wisdom, Natalie R. Legrand , Chinaemerem Sochi Ogbonna , Keith Dindi , Luke Thomas, Richard Etienne, Angela Ahiskal , Eniye Oshunbiyi LLB LLM , Toye Oshunbiyi , Kat Mahale . ✨

In your Zone of Aliveness, one hard moment no longer gets to take the whole day with it.

One of my clients recently shared this with me:

“Usually one bad anxiety wave would ruin my whole day. I’d spiral, isolate, drink, or look for some cheap dopamine hit to escape it.

This time I just said, ‘This really sucks right now.’

I went home, ate some food, had a nap, took a shower… and then went back to work and crushed two meetings.

That’s never happened before.”

And voila, folks.

This is capacity: feeling the wave without handing over the whole day.

Your mind is a gift, but it was never meant to carry the whole load alone.

I was working with a brilliant client yesterday - someone who can analyze a situation from twelve different angles and craft elegant arguments for every position.

But when I asked her, "What do you actually feel about this?", she went quiet.

I know it’s not because she didn't know. It’s more that ‘feeling it’ would mean dropping the shield of her intelligence and making contact with what was actually happening inside her.

Analysis, rationalizing, arguing - these can look incredibly intelligent. And they are. But underneath, they're often sophisticated ways to avoid discomfort, vulnerability, or the terrifying experience of not knowing.

The mind loves this game because thinking feels productive. But there’s a hidden cost.

My client interaction inspired me to write a blog about what I call “The Intelligence Trap” for anyone brilliant at understanding themselves, but struggling to actually be with themselves.

If this resonates with you, you can read the full blog below.
