In no particular order, here are 5 books/series I’d recommend in different genres/sub-genres.

The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black. The Cruel Prince is book one in this YA political fantasy and let me just say, Holly Black will always be one of my favourite writers. The world of Faerie is so unique and visually engaging, I think it’s so easy to fall in love with it all. And once you meet Cardan Greenbriar, you’ll know what a true enemies-to-lovers romance feels like.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. To say I’m excited for the movie would be an understatement. Also more YA despite having older characters, the STEM Romance that the author is known for is so much to read. Easy to immerse yourself in Olive’s world, and while I cannot relate to being a PHD student, I feel like the story as a whole is one that’s easy to connect to.

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. A classic summer romance novel that was made into a Netflix movie at the beginning of the year. In all honesty, I wish this has been done as a limited series because I feel like we lost so much of what made Poppy and Alex’s journey special by only getting an hour and a half of them. The book was better in every way.

Crescent City series by Sarah J. Maas. An urban fantasy romance that blew me away and is one of my favourite series of all time. This is not a beginner series if you are new to fantasy. SO MUCH AT PLAY in these books, it requires your full attention and it is worth every second.

The Bonds That Tie by J. Bree. A 6-book series with a why choose romance leading the plot. This is very low-fantasy so great for beginners so long as you’re cool with 5 guys and some serious trauma. As a hard-core fantasy girlie, I wanted more from it, but the why choose romance was done so well, and it was a fun read overall. I’m working through the audiobooks right now and am enjoying the re-read this way.

Have you read any of these? Do you have a favourite? What books would you recommend in any of these genres/sub-genres?

We haven’t been given too much information just yet but, we now know that the final book in the Fae & Alchemy trilogy by Callie Hart is being released September 2027

Quicksilver was an amazing 2025 read, one that felt fresh and different. I hadn’t read a book with vampires since Twilight so…it’d been a minute.

I gave Brimstone 4 stars because at the end of the day, I enjoyed the ride. It was a bit bumpy at times, a lot happened, and a lot changed. One thing I absolutely loved, was the Carrion Bonus Chapter that shed some light on his past, and absolutely had me shedding a few tears.

Have you read Quicksilver and Brimstone? Are you excited for Book 3?

MAY WRAP-UP 📚
In honour of Off-Campus coming out, it was apparently an Elle Kennedy appreciation month and I am not mad about it 🔥

The Graham Effect and Love Song both take you right back into the heart of the OG off campus world with your core 4 boys and their gals. Gigi and Wyatt both had great stories, and to say I’m not ridiculously excited for Bad Idea this Fall would be an understatement (Daddy Dean coming in HOT) 💛

I also did a re-read of Fourth Wing to get me through a 2 week stint of strep throat before jumping into Souls in Ruin to get a very fresh read in the dark fantasy romance world.

What did you read in May? Any 5 star reads?

House of Flame and Shadow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Crescent City series has been such a delight to read, and as we patiently await for ACOTAR 5, the ending of this story has only made me more excited to go back to Prythian 🖤
