Do you know where your food is coming from? Do you know what's in it?

Shifting your focus to eating cleaner can seem pretty daunting, so it's best to take it one step at time. One thing that you can start TODAY is acquiring the knowledge of just WHAT is going into the foods you eat; WHERE the food you eat is coming from!

One of the main highlights of a paleo diet is its focus on healthy whole foods! By cutting out gut-irritating ingredients, prepackaged processed foods and sugars, you're free to choose smarter, better sourced food sources!

Whether you follow a paleo diet or not, you need to address food quality - and for most of us, that also means making some changes to what's in our fridge and pantry. Make a conscious effort to steer clear of those processed snacks; nix the nitrates; and ditch the prepackaged picks!

Instead, shift your focus on fresh, whole foods! Budget allowing, make the words "grass-fed", "wild-caught", "organic" and "locally grown" your best food friends! You're responsible for your health and happiness, so follow a responsible diet!

You've probably seen something like the image here. Success - what you think it looks like... and what it actually looks like.

What most people don't realise, though, is that this same thing applies to your health and fitness as well!

It's important to remember that our fitness journey isn't just a straight line!

Have you ever been sick? Injured? Too tired to go to the gym? These are all prime examples of how you can't expect to have things go perfectly all of the time. Most people experience some sort of setback, but they keep going. Now, what if you see these setbacks as fatal rather than temporary? Well, you'll be less likely to keep going forward.

Like with anything in life, balance is crucial.

You need room to breathe when you're looking to accomplish anything, or to change deep-rooted habits.

But too much room, and we don't change anything; too much, and we fall back into our old ways.

There has to be balance, but most importantly, you have to utilise a sustainable plan! If you can't sustain something, it won't last. It seems obvious, but people sprint without realising that it's a marathon. You're in this thing for the long haul: adjust accordingly!

Curious about following a paleo diet? Not sure where - or how - to start? We've broken down some of the basics so that it's easy to understand - and get started!

Following a paleo diet is a great way to get healthy, and build up the eating choices and habits that will keep you happy and healthy for life. We are what we eat, after all!

Focus on healthy, whole foods: balance your diet with protein, healthy fats and carbs! Ditch refined and processed foods, grains and dairy! If you feel like you need the occasional indulgence, a glass of good red wine is chock full of antioxidants, and pairs well with some 70% (or more!) dark chocolate!

Pair this healthful diet with a healthy exercise regime and a minimum of 2 L of water a day, and you'll be on the right track!

One of the pillars of health is your diet. If you want to be healthy and feel good, you need to EAT healthy and good!

This is the reason that one of the first things we get clients to do is to analyse their eating habits and transition to a paleo diet.

Now, when we say "diet", we aren't talking about a crash diet, where you unreasonably cut calories and deprive your body. We're referring to the word in its traditional sense: the kinds of food that we habitually eat.

Aim to fill and balance your diet with protein, healthy fats and carbs! Say no to things like grains, dairy products, refined and processed foods, sugar and unhealthy oils.

You're working out, you're eating right, but you're still not losing fat.

How's your stress, lately?

Hormones are one of the top four reasons that you might not be losing fat - even when you're doing everything else right. And one on the main things throwing your hormones out of whack is stress!

Stress causes the elevation of the stress hormone 'cortisol' - some of you know cortisol to cause us to store extra fat. Now, it's important to note that cortisol isn't evil: we need it to survive, to wake up properly in the morning... The problem is that the body can't tell different stresses apart! Being attacked by a bear is the same stress response we get when we worry about our bills

Stress is a HUGE problem in today’s world, so make sure to have some remedies to deal with it!

Obviously, having a regular exercise routine is a great start to combating any negative effects associated with the sedentary lifestyle that the most of us lead... but you might be missing an important element in your routine: mobility training!

Dedicating time to improving the range of your joints is crucial! Poor mobility can lead to bunch of problems down the road, with pain being the usual warning sign. Incorporate mobility work into your daily routine - you can add it into your training routine, or find time throughout your day to prioritise it.

All around mobility is super important, but make sure to take the time to pay specific attention to your ankles, hips, mid-back and shoulders as well!
