I’d love to know — do you have a word or theme for this year?
I recently hosted a small Vision Quest workshop, and I’ve been sitting with a few reflections since.
Every January, many of us set goals or resolutions — and then quietly feel disappointed when they don’t quite stick.
Not because we’re incapable.
Not because we lack discipline or motivation.
Often, it’s because we don’t slow down at the beginning.
When we skip reflection, rush into goal-setting, or set timelines that don’t match our real lives, even meaningful goals can start to feel heavy or misaligned.
What I’ve come to see — through my own journey and my work with women — is that vision and goals play very different roles.
A vision is a North Star.
It usually stretches beyond a single year and gives direction, coherence, and meaning — even when life asks us to pivot.
Goals are the milestones that help bring that vision to life.
We tend to overestimate what we can do in one year and underestimate what’s possible over three. That’s why anchoring short-term goals in a longer-term vision makes such a difference.
The process I find most supportive looks something like this:
Reflect honestly on the year that’s closing
Let the vision be big — beyond just what feels realistic right now
Choose a focus or theme for the year ahead
Set a small number of meaningful goals
Break them into milestones
And intentionally bring in habits and support to sustain them
When vision, goals, habits, and support are aligned, momentum feels very different.
That’s the process I guided people through in the workshop. While I truly believe this work is powerful in a small group — with shared reflection, meditation, and space to dream together — the next best thing is to do it intentionally on your own.
I’ve created a Vision Quest guide based on this process for anyone who’d like to explore it at their own pace. DM me if you would like to get a copy.
And if this way of working resonates — reflection, vision, meaningful goals, and support — please reach out. I work with women navigating transitions and redefining what’s next, and I’d be happy to explore how I can support you.
