Toronto Women Flag Football - IWFFA We invite any woman and girl ages 8 years and older to join us to play 8 vs 8 flag football. Women are in charge. We are united with teams all over the world

We encourage as many girls and women to join us to strengthen, unite and empower each other. Our Toronto Women Flag Football team and league actuall started back in 2018, when the International Women Flag Football Association (IWFFA) taught the Afghanistan women how to play flag football. We traveled to India to learn the sport from IWFFA Trainer Diane Beruldsen. We learned how to play and coach f

lag football so we could then bring the sport to Afghanistan for women and girls only. This was a fantastic time for us. We had so much fun from that time 2018 until August 2022 when the Taliban came and took control of our country. We were no longer allowed to play flag football, nor any sport, we no longer were allowed to go to school nor work and the conditions for women were horrible. The Taliban took all the rights away from women. Our own lives were in danger because by playing flag football, we broke Taliban law and they were searching for us to punish us. With the help of IWFFA, Greenberg & Traurig, and Aldea, most of the Afghan flag football players and our families got asylum to Mexico. Many of us then traveled to Canada and a majority live in Toronto. We love the sport, we continue to play flag football and we invite any woman and girl ages 8 years and older to join us and play flag football.
