Neesa Kenemy teaches at two East Toronto Studios- Pilates Process on the Danforth, and operates a private practise at Pursuit Integrative Health on Gerrard Street East. Complete with a Reformer, Cadillac, stability balls, Franklin Method balls, squishy balls and a host of therabands, both studios are equipped for both therapeutic and fitness Pilates. Neesa Kenemy began studying Pilates as a supple

ment to her dance training and is still passionate about teaching it 18 years later. She is now a senior teacher and teacher trainer at Pilates Process. Through Laura Hesel at Pilates Process, Neesa has learned that research into biomechanics is constantly evolving and thus we must constantly reassess our beliefs and teaching practice. This can affect the integrity and strength of your spine, causing low back, hip or shoulder pain. Through therapeutic Pilates, Neesa has rehabilitated high level athletes, dancers, new parents, and those with desk jobs. She has also worked with clients with spinal chord injuries and brain injuries. Therapeutic and fitness pilates sessions are 1 hour and can be done privately or in a group of two. See this hand? It belongs to my octogenarian mama. She’s recently taken up drumming and is loving it, but it’s causing her thumbs and wrist some discomfort. Does she need to quit forever? No. Does she need to take a few days off? Yes, till the inflammation backs off. Then it’s soft tissue massage and strengthening exercises for those thumbs. Thanks for your guidance.

Well that was a blast!!💥
Today I had the opportunity to teach “Movement for Makers” at TMU! We evaluated what repetitive movements they perform when sewing, cutting, and carrying. I created a ten minute series for them to use as a warm up, midday movement break or cool down after a long day. Specifically for sewers, and makers. Thank you for having me. 💛

The Leg Pull.
Combines great hamstring, glute, adductor endurance with shoulder stability in downward rotation. When I first learned this ( 19 years ago) it felt terrible. I didn’t have the glute / hamstring strength to support the back of knees so it just felt like knee pressure. 😝
Now I’m addicted!! Knees feel supported and I love how different the shape is from literally everything else in Pilates. Love. It.
If your don’t love it yet, try it again in lateral rotation or with a slightly bent knee, or just don’t do the kick. You got this.
Alternatively, come to my class next Wednesday and we’ll work it out together. 😎
But CAREFUL, Pilates is addictive.
