If you are practicing martial arts: kung fu, boxing, karate, taekwondo, kickboxing, any predominantly hand striking martial art styles, it is worth noting that your true power in your striking techniques comes from your legs and lower body structures pushing into the ground - ground rooting technique.

Generating power by driving your feet off the ground is an efficient, biomechanically sound way to generate a massive amount of power in your punching or hand striking techniques.

Instead of being led into flashy, acrobatic techniques, practicing ground technique is not flashy and sometimes can be frustrating. Once you achieve a breakthrough, the feeling is very rewarding, and the ingrained muscle memory will serve you well.

Choy Li Fut kung fu series: 穿手 Chuen Sau or "Pierce Through Hand", is a Choy Li Fut kung fu's blocking technique.

🔹️🔸️🔹️🔸️🔹️

It is a forearm block, wrist hooking and pierce through hand technique. Essentially, it is a simultaneous application of defensive and offensive technique.

🔹️🔸️🔹️🔸️🔹️

The Chuen Sau 穿手 is also a way to maintain distance which keeps the opponent away-to make it challenging for the opponent to get into the striking range. 👉 This is similar to the boxer's jab.

The multiple application of Chuen Sau 穿手 makes it a precursor technique that paves a way for other follow-up kung fu technique: chaarp chui, saau chui, palm strikes, a defense against kicks, throws.

Enjoy! 🙏
