Incline dumbbell curl → lengthened biceps position
Dumbbell preacher curl → supported control
EZ-bar spider curl → forward arm position
Dumbbell concentration curl → strict single-arm control

Want Wider Lats? Stop Training Them the Same Way

If you want your lats to look wider from the front, don’t make every back exercise the same type of pull.

Close-grip lat pulldown → vertical pull
Straight-arm pulldown → long-arm lat tension
Low seated row → low rowing path toward the waist

Vertical pull.
Straight-arm pull.
Low row.

Three movements. Three different ways to train your lats.

Which one do you feel most in your lats?

Most Forearm Workouts Miss These 3 Areas

Brachioradialis.

Three forearm areas. One cable station.

Three band glute exercises. Three different jobs.

Which one do you use most?

Are You Training All 3 Parts of Your Arms?

If you want bigger arms, don’t make every exercise do the same job.

Incline dumbbell curls → biceps training from a stretched position.
Single-arm overhead cable extensions → triceps work with the arm overhead.

Three exercises.
Three areas.

The Hamstring Curl That Grew More Muscle

Seated or lying leg curls for hamstring growth?

In a 12-week study, seated leg curls increased total hamstring size by about 14%, compared with about 9% from lying leg curls.

One possible reason: with the hips flexed, the biarticular hamstrings train at a longer muscle length.

Both exercises can build hamstrings, but the seated leg curl produced greater growth in this study.

Control the stretch. Control the reps.

Stop Training Your Calves With Straight Knees Only

Want bigger calves? Don’t make every calf exercise a straight-knee raise.

Standing calf raises emphasize straight-knee loading.
Seated calf raises put more emphasis on the soleus.
Single-leg calf raises add unilateral control and a deep stretched position.

Straight-knee loading.
Bent-knee loading.
Single-leg control.

Three exercises. Three different jobs.

Do you include seated calf raises in your calf workout?
