Are you really lonely or are you alone?💭

First of all, whats the difference between the 2?
Being alone is the actual act of being by yourself, and loneliness is an emotion that comes from your 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, like feeling abandoned or isolated (uhhh hello COVID blues!!)
but what’s crazy about both of them, is that they can happen one at a time or simultaneously! You can have the happiest relationship in the world and still 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 lonely.
But being single does not automatically make you lonely, if anything its the complete opposite!
Regardless of your relationship status, I firmly believe that there is a more underlying issue: How 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 are we of our emotions?
In the moments where you feel alone or lonely, how quickly can you catch yourself in that state? Can you differentiate yourself from the 2? Once you can, these are the things that I like to do:
1️⃣ Once you know what you’re feeling, allow yourself to fully feel. Deeply. Watch your behaviours, do you immediately resort to suppressive behaviours? Aimlessly scrolling through social media, throwing on Netflix, alcohol/drugs?….
💡It’s important to create a level of awareness with yourself when you are at the peak of an emotion, or how I say, a high emotion.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
Navigating yourself out of the emotion before the emotion causes a reaction.
2️⃣ The next thing you can do is learn how to treat yourself as if you were to be treated by someone you love. Would they give you a hug, would they tell you they love you, would they make you a delicious home cooked meal?…
💡The more you treat yourself with appreciation, the more love you will 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭. And why is love so important when you are feeling lonely? Think back to its’ definition 👉🏼 Being lonely means that you desire a connection with someone, so why not 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟?
3️⃣ The last piece is to show gratitude for the moments that you are actually alone, because you will always be in the presence of another human being, at some point of your life.
💡Doing all of these things will not only make you feel more content in the moment, but it will also deepen the relationship with yourself.
And what happens if you do this every time that sad feeling creeps forward? Remind yourself that you are supported and loved, and go treat yourself with something that you not only appreciate, but would love to remember. 💗
