👏🏼IT’S OK TO TAKE A REST

Rest? What?! No way! Not gonna happen!

❌I need to go to the gym 7x/week to get my dream body

❌If I skip today, I’ll need to work extra hard tomorrow

❌If I skip today, I should restrict my diet for the rest of the day

🚫These are all untrue beliefs!!
Rest days are just as important, if not more important than training days!

You know that amazing sore feeling you get 1-2 days after training? Thats your body telling you it needs time to reset, replenish, and restore the “damage” you have done at the gym. The damage is referring to the micro tears your muscles made in order to help you build strength and size.💪🏼

Without rest, your body will have a harder time to recover, thus making it harder for you to reach your goals without overdoing it. 🥴

Usually my rest days are Wednesdays and the weekend. But I like to have “active rest”, because I am usually out exploring 🎿🏂

Have you ever been stable⁣
Physically;⁣
Mentally;⁣
Emotionally,⁣
⁣...All at the same time?⁣

Looking back, I can honestly say 𝐧𝐨. There was always something lacking or holding me back from embodying all of these qualities at the same time, and more.⁣

Part of the inner work is healing through your previous traumas and beliefs, but it’s also about learning, growing, and evolving to posses everything you’ve ever dreamed of.⁣

If part of your goal is to reach...⁣

A happy healthy body,⁣
A forward thinking mind,⁣
& emotional stability.⁣

Then your daily habits need to reflect what you are striving for:⁣
✅ Physical activity⁣
✅ Sleep⁣
✅ Food choices⁣
✅ Decision making⁣
✅ Alcohol/drug consumption⁣
✅ Journaling/meditating⁣
Etc.⁣

Just over a year ago, I was in one of the darkest places I’ve ever been. Or at least so I thought in that moment.⁣

I just knew it was time for me to move on from what I was so comfortable with for so long.⁣

❌I knew that I couldn’t force someone to love me the way I wanted.⁣

❌I knew I couldn’t depend on someone to make me happy.⁣

❌I knew that love doesn’t mean to put your significant other down.⁣

❌I knew that lies, secrecy, and feeling distanced were all red flags.⁣

And yet, I decided to 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥 that everything was okay.⁣

My life was okay.⁣

I had an okay job.⁣
I lived in an okay town.⁣
I had an okay relationship.⁣

And yet, deep down, I knew it wasn’t anything that I wanted.⁣

I knew I was becoming comfortable⁣
I knew I was settling⁣
I knew what I was doing....⁣

And yet again, I chose to ignore it all.⁣

Ignore my pain,⁣
Ignore my suffering,⁣
Ignore what’s right vs wrong. ⁣

Because if I admitted to any of this, it would mean that something needed to change.⁣

✨My self worth⁣
✨My standards⁣
✨My boundaries⁣
✨My limits⁣
✨My environment.⁣

This feeling that I felt pushed me into where I am today.⁣

I fought for so long for what I thought was right.⁣

But here’s the thing, just because you “think” it’s right, doesn’t make it “feel” right.⁣

My gut has taught me so much.⁣

I’m here to remind you that IT IS right.⁣

Trust that feeling when something 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 off, because it 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬.⁣

It’s scarier to live a life you’re settling in rather than not knowing what your next step is going to be.⁣

So don’t ever settle, listen and TRUST yourself.⁣

She will always guide you to the right place ✌🏼💖

If good things come to good people, then what’s to say you don’t already have 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 you need?⁣

𝘎𝘙𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘛𝘜𝘋𝘌 is the name of the game.⁣

The more you show your appreciation for the things you already have, you will receive more abundance in return.⁣

For those of you wanting 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞, be happy with what you have 𝘉𝘌𝘍𝘖𝘙𝘌 you wander too far into your desires.⁣

Are you really lonely or are you alone?💭⁣

First of all, whats the difference between the 2?⁣

Being alone is the actual act of being by yourself, and loneliness is an emotion that comes from your 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, like feeling abandoned or isolated (uhhh hello COVID blues!!)⁣

but what’s crazy about both of them, is that they can happen one at a time or simultaneously! You can have the happiest relationship in the world and still 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 lonely.⁣

But being single does not automatically make you lonely, if anything its the complete opposite! ⁣

Regardless of your relationship status, I firmly believe that there is a more underlying issue: How 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 are we of our emotions?⁣

In the moments where you feel alone or lonely, how quickly can you catch yourself in that state? Can you differentiate yourself from the 2? Once you can, these are the things that I like to do:⁣

1️⃣ Once you know what you’re feeling, allow yourself to fully feel. Deeply. Watch your behaviours, do you immediately resort to suppressive behaviours? Aimlessly scrolling through social media, throwing on Netflix, alcohol/drugs?….⁣

💡It’s important to create a level of awareness with yourself when you are at the peak of an emotion, or how I say, a high emotion.⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.⁣
Navigating yourself out of the emotion before the emotion causes a reaction.⁣

2️⃣ The next thing you can do is learn how to treat yourself as if you were to be treated by someone you love. Would they give you a hug, would they tell you they love you, would they make you a delicious home cooked meal?…⁣

💡The more you treat yourself with appreciation, the more love you will 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭. And why is love so important when you are feeling lonely? Think back to its’ definition 👉🏼 Being lonely means that you desire a connection with someone, so why not 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟?⁣

3️⃣ The last piece is to show gratitude for the moments that you are actually alone, because you will always be in the presence of another human being, at some point of your life.⁣

💡Doing all of these things will not only make you feel more content in the moment, but it will also deepen the relationship with yourself.⁣

And what happens if you do this every time that sad feeling creeps forward? Remind yourself that you are supported and loved, and go treat yourself with something that you not only appreciate, but would love to remember. 💗

“NOW WHAT?”⁣⁣

This question is usually the first indication that fear is preventing us from moving forward. It’s also why it's so hard to let go of our past. We become 𝘴𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 knowing that we were able to get through all the good and hard times that ever crossed our paths.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💡Since we know exactly what to do better for next time, it becomes harder to let go of the idea of wanting to put ourselves back in the positions we once came from. Hence why we keep circling back physically or mentally…⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s funny because we once asked ourselves that same question before we got into our most previous situation, and yet somehow we made it to where we are today.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
👉🏼WHY DO WE DO THIS?⁣⁣
We get too caught up on the idea that we have to recreate our entire narrative, when in reality we just need to decide on what the 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 step is going to be.⁣
⁣⁣
When you catch yourself becoming overwhelmed with a new situation, focus on how you can support yourself 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰, and eventually you will get to wherever you want to go, 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 ✨
