This past weekend was the last big event for the year for ACL Canada aka the Canadian Nationals!
Going into this weeks festivities I was sitting on the border of the top 16. Knowing I needed a good weekend I was primed for battle.
Thursday was the first day,
Men’s was first up and it didn’t disappoint. Every single match was a battle with 54 soldiers ready to go. After a the dust settled I managed to sit in 5th.
Following that was Pro Doubles
Brett Davie and I went in strong and held our own finishing 2-2 and tied for 7th
Pro team semi final was the last event for the day and The St John Screechers were able to hold off Calgary to advance to the finals
Friday day 2
Started off the day with Pro Singles,
This Pro division is no joke and every game was tight. I started the day strong and made it to the king seat game, after a big battle with Samuel Bibeau I was forced to the loser side to play the semi finals against non other than Deon Cuza! Just didn’t get the final kill and ended up 3rd in pro singles
Open singles
Wow what can I say, Kimberli Broman was a beast and put me down in the loser bracket first game, won a couple then was knocked out going 2-2.
Pro team finals
The Screechers faced off against the Returning Champion Montreal Royals. After three hard fought games Montreal managed to be repeat winners. Congratulations Royals!
Crew cup was the fun let loose event where Larry Bone, John Pilling Paul Simmons and myself went 0-4 in round robin to put us in tier two. Made it to the finals then last to Geoff Watermans Beane squad.
Saturday
Open doubles was a ridiculously tough. April many strong teams, Brett Davie and i went 3-3 to end up in Tier 2. Started off with a loss and had to battle through the gauntlet to get back to Aline and Steve. We ran out of steam and lost to them in the finals.
Swap was the last event of The weekend and managed to fet to tier 1. made it to the semi finals and were then knocked out.
Over all a freat weekend and so very happy with my finish. I managed to jump from 16 in pro Standings to 8 securing my Pro spot for my second season. Thank you to everyone that was there supporting me throughout the year and I can’t wait for the next season to come.
