This one feels so graceful, doesn’t it?

The Swan is another one of my favourites. It’s great for:

🦢 Strengthening your back, glutes, arms and shoulders (talk about a heavy hitter)

🦢 Stretching your abdominals and hip flexors (great for those who work at a desk)

🦢 Improving spinal mobility, posture, and balance

It might look intimidating, but as with all Pilates movements you don’t jump right into them. With time and practice, you learn to work with your body and build strength, adding poses as you go.

You already know that Swan is one of my favourite Pilates exercises, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I also love to add a little movement to it!

Swan Rocking is a bit more advanced, but it comes with a lot of benefits. This exercise:

🌈 Develops control in extending and flexing the spine (spinal articulation)

🌈 Strengthens your posterior chain (back muscles, glutes, hamstrings)

🌈 Strengthens your core, of course.

It’s always fun finding ways to challenge people, showcase their natural abilities, and build bodies that stay ready to practice the activities they love!

I find that most people coming from the athletic world find a new perspective on movement when they’re in a Pilates session. Control and precision are principles I love using to challenge bodies that are used to fast paced sports!
