The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has declared a significant weather event on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 12:44 pm due to forecasted or observed weather conditions. The extreme rainfall events of the last five days, which followed significant snow melt events, has led to significant flooding throughout the Town. Local waterways are exceeding normal spring runoff levels with several watersheds in South Bruce Peninsula experiencing much higher levels than typically seen.

The ground is fully saturated with no capacity to absorb additional rainfalls. With more rain in the forecast, Town staff are focusing their efforts on flood mitigation and response.

A Significant Weather Event (SWE) is a formal declaration made by a municipality when current or forecasted weather conditions pose a significant hazard to users of the roadways, making it temporarily impossible to meet the maintenance standards required under the provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards (MMS).

South Bruce Peninsula wishes to note that the declaration of a significant weather event is not notice of a reduced level of service or a road closure. The declaration is to notify the public that due to the current or forecasted conditions, caution is to be observed when travelling on municipal roads and sidewalks and that it may take longer than usual to bring the condition of the roads and sidewalks back to a state of repair. For your safety, please do not travel on any roads that have been closed due to flooding.

Final Trail Report for the 2025/2026 Season.

It has been an exceptional season, lots of snow. Thank you to our entire trails team. To everyone that comes out in the fall to get the trails ready. Our groomers that spend hours out getting the trails just right in any weather, Thank you. All the volunteers that work the chalet on the weekends and special events.
To the snowshoers who do the hard work to break trail after it snows, Thank you.
Have a great off season and will see you next winter on the trails.

Trails North of I are closed - under water.
Dam Return - creek is open and groomer couldn’t finish loop. Use caution!

All other trails are packed.

Please use caution on the trails today as there are many trees down on the trails and many covered in heavy snow that is bending the trees over the trail and could snap at any time. The Grooming team is working to remove trees and hazards.

Please use great caution.

From one of our members yesterday, now we are getting more snow today ❄️❄️❄️

“Surprisingly good skiing this afternoon (march 12). I expected it to be icy and fast, but the dusting of new snow made it quite pleasant. I've never seen the river so high - its running right around the dam on the other side. The main, dam and river tails were good with snow coverage with the exception of one small spot on the river trail where the river was so high and running through the woods that it washed some of the now away.”

All trails have been groomed with the tenderizer but not track set. Grooming operations will be paused until colder weather returns. Extra caution is advised. Icy conditions may occur.
