After severe drought destroyed their natural food sources, this unusual operation became a vital lifeline for the struggling animals.

As the season changes, from warm to cold, surviving here in the West Kootenays becomes more challenging. Hunting and wildcrafting can be perilous if you are not well equipped.

Remember if you are going it alone, to make sure that someone knows your plan and and your estimated return, make sure you have a light weight first aid kit and a good radio with extra batteries so that you can call for help in the event of emergency.
