The purpose of the league in particular:
• To carry out practices, games, and showcase weekends for Indigenous people.
• To maintain and enforce rules and regulations for the control and governance of the game within all Indigenous communities.
• To uphold indigenous communities and promote our cultures.
• Throughout North America we want to develop Indigenous youth offering life lessons thru
the game of hockey and provide an opportunity for physical health and wellbeing.
• To offer growth and development of the sport by entering into mutual agreements with other Indigenous communities in North America.
• To offer an elite stream of hockey so the players can move into higher levels in Canada with CIS universities and in the USA with NCAA schools.
• To form a complete membership of like-minded First Nation Territories offering skill development programs for all ages and all skill levels.
• To offer players wishing to make hockey a career the opportunity at very high levels from P*e Wee, Bantam, and Midget AAA and finally the opportunity to move players and advance them into Junior teams. I'm excited to announce I've undertaken the steps necessary to join and compete in the Can-Am Junior Hockey League. The CAJHL as it's known is a junior hockey league with teams based in Canada and the United States. The league is independently operated and insured; it is not sanctioned by either Hockey Canada, USA Hockey, or the Amateur Athletic Union. The process requires your territory, academy or program join the North American Indigenous Youth Hockey League. This preserves my original mission statement offering Indigenous players hope of competing at the IIHF World Juniors and Olympics. I believe it's time to have Indigenous female and male teams at those highest levels. Once you join the NAIYHL I will be working with CAJHL to have acceptance into the CAJHL.
