Introducing our U9 Boys Jr United Coach, Paul Caputo.

A few words from Coach Paul:

"My coaching journey with this group started when many of these boys were just beginning soccer at the recreational U5 level. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to watch them grow from picking dandelions on the field to competing in competitive tournaments together. It’s a true honour for me to be part of this group, helping develop our young players while creating soccer memories throughout Ontario and Michigan.

Coaching is incredibly rewarding to me. It’s the bonds built between teammates, parents cheering from the sidelines, team chants, and the relationships built with our players, parents, coaches, and organizers within all the clubs.

These are relationships and memories that can last a lifetime. My goal has always been to give this group the same experience I was fortunate enough to have as a young athlete, playing soccer in our community, travelling to competitive tournaments, building friendships, and developing a love for the game. I’m looking forward to another season of coaching this group, watching them compete, and creating memories together that they can carry with them for years to come"

HEAD COACH OF THE U17 SOO CITY UNITED BOYS: Jamie Capisciolto!!

"As our U16 Team closes out the 2025/2026 Season, we find ourselves with a lot of positive momentum. We are eagerly looking forward to the 2026/2027 with a lot of confidence and optimism. The years of dedication are paying off and we have forged a strong identity of teamwork, disciplined defense, grit and quick attacks. The group shares a strong connection with each other and love for the game. As a coach, the goal is to continue to develop the players’ skill and understanding of the game in a fun, yet focused environment. We want to balance accountability and commitment to team concepts, while allowing each player to find their own skill, creativity and unique playing style. I am really excited to see this group get to the next level."

Introducing our Jr United U13 Girls Coach: Coco Carson

Coco grew up playing with the SYSC Civics from U11–U18 before continuing at the University of New Brunswick and Cambrian College, where she captained the team as a centre midfielder. Now a marathon and ultramarathon runner and Special Olympics Track & Field coach, Coco is passionate about giving back to the soccer program that helped shape her and creating the same positive experience for the next generation of players.

Introducing our Soo City United U16 Boys coach, Marlon Aquino-Soriano.

Coach Marlon brings three seasons of coaching experience with Soo City United, serving as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach. He holds his Canada Soccer Grassroots Diploma and is passionate about developing young players both on and off the field.

Coach Marlon has played soccer both as a youth and adult -- he brings years of playing experience to the pitch. With a focus on skill development, teamwork, discipline, and creating a positive team environment, Marlon is excited to lead the new U16 Boys team and help the players grow, compete, and enjoy the game they love.

SYSC is proud to announce Kyleigh Provenzano as the U10 Jr United Head Coach.

A word from Coach Kyleigh:

"I am so grateful to have the opportunity to continue coaching such an amazing group of girls for their third year as they enter the U10 age group.

I bring nearly ten years of experience coaching competitive soccer, and there is nothing I enjoy more than watching these girls develop both on and off the field as they continue their journey in sport.

Sault youth soccer was such an important part of my childhood, and the strong coaches I had through the Civics program continue to inspire me. I hope to give these girls the same positive experiences, encouragement and love for the game that my coaches gave me.

My favourite part of coaching these kids is learning alongside them. Our entire coaching staff has so much fun together and it's incredibly rewarding to watch the girls grow, challenge themselves and support one another.

I am looking forward to another successful season filled with laughter, learning, growth and most importantly friendships and memories that will last beyond the soccer field"

Meet Coach Steve Mazzuca:

With more than 35 years of experience as a player and over 15 years of coaching experience with Sault Youth Soccer Club, Steve brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to the game.

Steve currently serves as the President of Sault Youth Soccer Club and has been a dedicated member of the SYSC Board for the past seven years. He will be coaching both the U17 Girls and the U15 Boys Soo City United teams.

Throughout his coaching career, Steve has worked with both competitive and house league programs at SYSC, as well as coaching at St. Mary’s College.

Steve’s longstanding commitment to soccer in our community and to the development of young athletes makes him a valued part of SYSC.

Please join us in welcoming Kristin Mooney as the Head Coach of our U16 Soo City United team!

A word from Coach Kristin:

"My coaching approach is rooted in my vast experience as an athlete and complemented by years of coaching youth soccer and hockey.

Growing up in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, I had the privilege of being coached by Howard Gray for almost 10 years, competing in prestigious tournaments including the USA Cup, Dana Cup (Denmark), and Vincenza Cup (Italy). My path then shifted to the ice when I attended Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA for high school, where I played Ice Hockey before going on to compete at the NCAA Division III level with the Elmira College Soaring Eagles — clinching two NCAA Championships. While at Elmira, I also had the opportunity to walk on to the spring soccer team, making sure I never lost my touch on the field!

This is my third season being Head Coach of the 2011 Girls team , having previously assisted for two season before that. Prior to joining Soo City United, I volunteered in youth recreational leagues and with Phoenix FC in Sherwood Park, AB.

I truly love giving back everything I have learned through my athletic journey, and I hope to continue being a role model for girls in sport — bringing out the very best in each of my play".

Over the coming days, we’ll be announcing the Soo City United and Jr United head coaches for the upcoming season!

We are incredibly excited and proud of the coaches who have been selected to lead our teams. We’re looking forward to sharing them with our players, families, and soccer community and introducing you to the coaches who will help guide our athletes through the season.
