The Nelson Hoops Association is announcing significant leadership changes and would like to express its gratitude to those who have shaped the organization. First, we extend our thanks to our outgoing Executive Director, Jaymee Shea. Jaymee has been an incredible asset over the past eight months, and her expertise was vital in providing valuable programming to our members.
We also wish to recognize Jeremy Phelan, who has stepped down as President. As the founder of the NHA, Jeremy dedicated thousands of hours to the growth of basketball in the community, and the growing passion for the sport in the Kootenays is a direct result of his tireless work. While he is resigning as President to balance other priorities, we are fortunate that Jeremy will continue to serve the organization as a Director.
Stepping into the role of President is Rick Tiefenbach. Rick brings a strong leadership background and a commitment to the NHAβs mission, having been formally appointed by the board to succeed Jeremy and guide the organization into its next season. Rick has refereed basketball for almost 30 years and has experience coaching community and club basketball. He previously served on the board of the Regina Community Basketball Association and the Regina Globe Theatre. He and his family have resided in Castlegar for 7 years.
Finally, we are pleased to introduce Kevin de Souza as our new Executive Director. Kevin has coached high school and club basketball and previously served on the board. He has begun working with the board to manage transitions, plan fall programming, and ensure the continued growth of basketball in the community. We look forward to an exciting year ahead!
