People with ADHD have a very strong inner critic, they live with shame nipping at their heals.
As an adhd coach I work with my clients to understand their amazing and unique brains and embrace themselves with curiosity, compassion and grace. We move from using shame and the fear of disappointing others to motivate ourselves to using a body scan, the power of the pause and empowered response. As people with ADHD, we can get it done, but the cost is much higher. Deadlining ( leaving things to the last minute ) spikes cortisol and leaves a residue that adds to years of built up shame and fear.
I love IFS as an adjunct to coaching.
We must change how we feel to change how we do. So many people come to me wanting to know how to get things done and leave knowing who they are and have always been. It’s in the being that sustainable change happens. Unless you do this core work you risk getting stuck in the burnout loop.
Be kind to yourself. You matter and are worth it.

Christmas is supposed to be magical.
But for ADHD women?
It’s just… loud. In our brains.
Because December turns us into unpaid project managers with tinsel.
No salary. No support staff.
Just vibes and a nervous system on edge.
Meanwhile, our brains are running a 47-tab browser that will not close.
Let’s review the list, shall we?
Buy the gifts.
Wrap the gifts.
Hide the gifts from the people you bought them for.
Remember what you already bought so you don’t buy it again.
Plan the meals.
Grocery shop.
Forget one key ingredient.
Go back to the store.
Decorate.
Coordinate schedules.
Remember traditions no one else remembers.
Navigate family dynamics.
Avoid landmines.
Keep the peace.
Don’t cry.
Don’t snap.
Don’t say the thing you’re thinking.
And somehow… stay regulated.
If Christmas feels overwhelming, it’s not because you’re failing.
It’s because you’re carrying everything—
and expected to do it with a smile.
So here’s your permission slip:
Do less. Drop a ball. Say no. Choose peace.
You’re not behind.
You’re just human—with ADHD

Can you relate to this poem?

Adhd can rob us of any sense of an authentic self. It’s time to rip off the mask and take up space.

With my colleague Jeanine, I’m offering a one day immersion for women with ADHD ( diagnosed or not ) to rewrite your story, steady your nervous system and rise like the Phoenix you are, all while in the company of a growing sisterhood. This is not about how to get more stuff done because before we can do, we have to be. We’ll be coming back to the body through breath, movement and community. And I would love to have you join us.

The Masking

You were never a question mark always a statement
Like an exclamation point
You were built to stand out
For change, for innovation
For magic
The world holds you hostage with its small ways
It said you are wrong, broken, unredeemable
It ate away at your confidence
Bit by soul crushing bit
It was death by a thousand No’s
Be quiet, sit still, stop doing that
Until you were an unsure little puddle on the ground
Identity in shreds
All your joy, expired

I messed up. I missed something. I thought I was supposed to be at this community book club for the Anxious Generation at 7:30 but in reality it ended at that time.
Nothing surprising about doing something like this when you have ADHD but what is a big deal is how I feel.

I didn’t call myself names.
Crawl into my bed to drown in my shame. Eat a sleeve of cookies.
I didn’t even vow to just quit because I’ll have missed the first one and I’m too embarrassed to show up next time.
There was no tightening of my stomach with worse to come latter.
Every time I’ve done this before isn’t playing on a loop building steam to take me down.

I felt disappointed because I really wanted to go. And I set an alarm for the next one and moved on.

A lot of people will say that isn’t progress, you call yourself an ADHD coach and you still don’t have all your crap together. How can you expect anybody to want to work with you.
Heck I wouldn’t have even posted this 6 months ago because I would worry about it negatively impacting my credibility.

But this is massive progress, because living a life with ADHD is not about just getting things done. It’s about loving your authentically, unmasked messy mistake-making self. It’s about radical acceptance of both our strengths and our deficits.

So this is an earth shattering
Win.

I no longer want to be the expert, but the leader who is just a bit ahead and is reaching back to pull others forward.

Community is everything in the process of healing. And we form connection when we are real. So I really screwed up and that is ok.
