Sunday, May 31. It’s my birthday. And I’m hosting a thing!

A Backstage Pass Birthday Bash Open House — a live online gathering on a Sunday (Full Moon, naturally) — and I’d love for you to come.

The Backstage Pass is a creative community membership where your creative life and wild ambitions are taken playfully seriously. We share the wins, the cringe, and how the heck to move at the pace of art when everything everywhere is happening all at once.

Come hang out. RSVP here:

Maybe you’re not creatively blocked. Maybe you’re attention-hopping.

It’s not the big dramatic distractions that pull us out of creative work. It’s the tiny beat of uncertainty between one sentence and the next — that small moment of not-knowing — where the phone appears in our hand like magic. Like a curse.

Every time we bounce away, we lose something. Our intimacy with the work. Our capacity to sit in discomfort. The creative tension that, if we just stayed, could turn into something really good.

If you’ve been feeling the pull to disappear into a creative cave for a bit, this is your permission slip.

The GirlBoss Apology tour is a compilation of conversations with people in the online business space, having real conversations about the bat-sh*t-bananas-ness of it all and how to make a living doing things in real alignment.

So when Tarzan Kay asked me to participate in this I had three thoughts:

1. GREAT summit name, hilarious.

2. Count me in, whatever Tarzan is doing, I want to play.

3. I never got into the “Girl Boss” thing, and I don’t have anything to apologize for (except maybe to myself). Is this a tour for people who got a lil’ overzealous in the ol’ online marketing game, did some dumb and unethical stuff and want to come clean about it?

No one is apologizing at The Girlboss Apology Tour.
…except maybe to themselves.

This 5-day event is about repairing with yourself, so that you can reclaim your energy and focus, and put it toward the thing you’ve always dreamed of building. Something that’s uniquely yours, that only you could build.

Fourteen interviews. Three live events. One honest look at what the girlboss era got right, what we got wrong, and how to get what you actually want now.

It’s free. Begins April 13.

I was supposed to be in Toronto right now and kicking off an Eastern Canadian tour of A Little Bit Much this Friday. But alas, plans have changed.

There’s been a medical emergency in my family, and I need to be home for a while. Details are not mine to share publicly at this time. Thanks for the well wishes from those of you who’ve already been notified through the venues, and please don’t worry.

New tour dates will be announced soon and are likely in early fall.

Join the folks at Aspire Naturopathic Health Centre on Tuesday, March 31st for the North Shore screening of The M Factor 2: Before the Pause, hosted in the Arbutus Room at Delbrook Rec Centre.

This powerful documentary shines a light on perimenopause — the often-overlooked decade before menopause that can disrupt women’s
health, work, and sense of stability. Through real women’s stories and insights from leading experts, the film explores how symptoms are frequently dismissed, how workplaces fail to support women’s bodies, and why early awareness can be life-changing.

After the screening, enjoy an insightful expert panel discussion and live Q&A with leaders in women’s health.

Tickets are $18, but seats are limited — grab yours now!

Oh and did I mention I’ll be there too, lubricating the room.

Hey there! I’m performing in Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia in April and I wanted to introduce myself!

I’m Chela and I’m the writer and performer of A Little Bit Much, a comedic one-woman show that seems to have a lasting impact on audiences!

I live in BC and am now touring in Eastern Canada. My background was not in the performing arts. I wrote this show as creative recovery and an existential reckoning of sorts.

A way to express - hey, all my life our overculture yells at me about all the things I’m supposed to be - skinny, hot, partnered, driven (but not too driven, ew), nurturing, rich (but not too rich you nasty capitalist), evolved, omg be so evolved like super zen and accepting but also like a good fiesty activist on the right side of history.

I just started writing about how exhausting that all is, the internalization of the things we’re supposed to be, that we never measure up to because there’s always the next thing we’re supposed to become or achieve and now that I’m in my 40’s the anti-aging industrial complex is coming for me hard.

All my life I’ve been driven in a “what’s the meaning of life” kind of way, (you know that person who’s insufferable at parties). This show is a love letter to the inquiry around muchness. Am I too much? Not enough? What of this culture? These expectations? How do we get out of it? Or change it? Or change ourselves? Can we just have a big laugh about it? And a big cry?

Yes, let’s do that. Let’s have a big laugh and cry about the intensity and absurdity of the whole shebang. That’s what we do at A Little Bit Much. I hope you’ll come. And bring your people. You’ll have lots to talk about after!
If you’ve already got your tix, please comment! Help the algo. Tag people you think should come! I promise to give you a great show.
