Tink Memorial Cup

On April 17th, 2015 the world lost one incredible man, Toni J Marciniak. After moving to Canada from Manchester, England, Toni made Powell River his home.

Working in the school district as a teacher and counselor for 27 years, he quickly became a huge part of this community. His involvement with the youth of Powell River has had a huge impact on many people’s lives over the years. His door was always open for anyone who needed to talk and he was there to listen, day or night. Toni was highly involved with the Powell River Youth Soccer Association fo

r many years. He was a mentor, coach, division manager, referee, and pioneer for starting the mini girl’s soccer league in Powell River. In his spare time Toni was an avid hiker, kayaker, golfer and outdoors enthusiast and was always looking for a new adventure. Although Toni is gone, the impact he made on this community and his love for the game of soccer will not be forgotten. This tournament is dedicated to his life, legacy, and to all the people his life touched. On May 7th and 8th, 2016 the first annual Tink Memorial Cup kicked off for its first time. This mixed 7-aside tournament is for all who want to participate and support the legacy of a man who proudly shared his love of the beautiful game of soccer with everyone. Toni knew first-hand how difficult it can be for some students facing adversity to earn their high school diploma and pursue their post-secondary goals. The Toni Marciniak Memorial Scholarship was created to assist a student who is overcoming adversity and intends on attending a post-secondary institution to further their education. All proceeds from this tournament are contributed to the Toni Marciniak Scholarship or allocated back into the community through SD47 for student programs and students in need. As the post says, we have changed the tee off intervals from 10 minutes apart to 9 minutes apart to accommodate 2 more teams!

Emails have been sent to all team captains as well regarding this change (if I had your emails), if you haven’t received them, check your junk mail folder!

Welcome back folks!

We’re ready to kick off the registration and are looking forward to seeing you all again this year at the Tink Memorial Cup! 🏆

Registration deadline is June 10, 2025 or when we reach capacity! A waitlist will be taken again for anyone who wasn’t able to register in time and are still interested in playing.

Tournament fees are as follows:

$75 for non-members of MPGC - includes green fees, cart rental, meal and beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)

$40 for members of MPGC - includes cart rental, meal and beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)

Please have all registration fees paid shortly after submitting your team form. The payment deadline is also June 10th, we really don’t want to be chasing people down day of the tournament for payment. Please and thank you! 🙏🏼

2025 marks the 10 year anniversary of Toni’s passing, this year we are hosting the Tink Cup on a very special day, Father’s Day Sunday, June 15, 2025. In honour of the tournament being on Sunday and the Red’s (Manchester United) being Toni’s favourite team, we invite everyone to wear their best Sunday red this year as Toni and Tiger would.

Well the time has come… to disappoint everyone who thought we were finally going to be hosting a soccer tournament this year… but golf is on the agenda once again!!

All jokes aside, we wish we could deliver the hopes and dreams of drinking a cold beer from the sidelines while you watch teams battle it out for glory.. but the task of organizing and hosting the soccer tournament just isn’t feasible with our (all three Marciniak’s) life schedules at the moment.

I would like to take a moment though to reflect on the fact that 2025 marks 10 years without Toni, the man we honour every year we host this tournament. 10 years. A decade. In this time we have grown in our lives, grown from our grief, and grown as a community. While the scenery may have changed in recent years from a soccer pitch to the greens of Myrtle Point, the founding mentality for this tournament has not wavered. Every year you choose to support this tournament, whether it is on the field or at the course, we appreciate your presence immensely. You have uplifted our spirits year after year when we come together to remember a very important and special man.

That being said, this year we will be hosting the Tink Cup on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Fathers Day. We know this isn’t the big Saturday to do we normally have, but it is a special day non the less, and we hope you will join us on the third Sunday in June in honour of our dad.

Registration will be out at the end of April! So this should give everyone some time to start thinking about their teams for this year!

Good morning everyone! Are we all ready for a day on the course?

When you arrive at the course, please check in at the raffle table area where we will give you your score cards and food & drink vouchers. Please arrive at the course with adequate time to get organized, visit and prepare to tee off at your scheduled time!

Standard housekeeping notes:

Please be respectful of the course, the carts, myrtle point employees, volunteers etc. We are guests and we want to make sure we are all respecting their facilities

Drinking and driving, as always, is a no go! please arrange a safe ride ahead of time if you think you will be needing one

Included in your tournament fees is a meal and beverage! The Orca Bar and Grill at Myrtle Point is preparing a chicken burger, beef burger, and veggie burger option on their new grill, with your choice of fries or salad. Gluten free and regular buns will be available for anyone with dietary restrictions. The kitchen will also be open for breakfast this morning, if you have an earlier tee time. I am told there will also be mimosas available!

You can choose to have your meal at any point throughout the day, either before or after your round, but the course has asked that we have a 5:30pm cut off for food service to avoid putting pressure on the kitchen to stay open later. We have been assured the bar will remain open after food service has ended. There will be a bar set up on the patio for quicker access to beverages. The course is running low on take out coolers and there will be a lot of us out there today! If you want to keep your beverages cool and have a small soft cooler for your cart it is recommended you bring it and course will supply you with ice and beverages for your round! The food/beverage cart will also be out and about today!

Raffle tables will be locked and loaded! Tickets are 5 for $10, or 1 ticket for 3$ . There are no ATM’s at the course so please plan accordingly, we do have the option to send an E-transfer to purchase tickets, but we do not have a debit or credit option at this time!

The sun is up and we are looking forward to a great day!

Just a friendly reminder to E-transfer your teams tournament fees in full by end of day Saturday May 25, 2024. If your team has already done so thank you! 🙏🏼

Time is just flying by and June 8th is going to be here before we know it!

If you have any changes to your teams to make, please send us a message and let us know at least the day before the tournament, and we will happily make a change.

Well that was quick!! We have 4 of the 25 spots remaining!

Any registration forms submitted after we are at capacity will be put on a waiting list and we will contact you to let you know where you sit based on a first come first serve basis.

We will post an update as more registration forms come in and once we are at capacity!

If you are waitlisted, we will notify you ASAP, as we will not collect registration fees from those teams if we cannot guarantee you a tee time.

Tink Cup 2024 Registration is now open!

If you can’t tell from the picture in this post, we are going to be hosting a golf tournament again this year. We understand that people were hoping for soccer but the truth of it is, is that the time and effort that goes into running the soccer tournament is just something we don’t have the capacity to take on this year. We apologize as we know how much the soccer means to everyone, but it will be back next year for the 10th anniversary of the tournament! In the meantime we golf!!

Hello hello!

We are just 2 days away from tee off! ⛳️

We just wanted to go over a couple of things with you all before the weekend!

Please be on time for your tee times! Arriving at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time will ensure that you have enough time to check in, pay for carts and check out all the stuff we have going on!

The format is a scramble! If you don’t know what that is, look it up! Just kidding.. it’s a best ball, format. Please don’t assume regular stroke play as this will slow down the pace and we have to keep the pace!

At the clubhouse there will be a raffle table, chipping and putting contests, and more! We have some really great prizes from all our incredible donors! Make sure you bring cash as there is not an ATM at the golf course!

Raffle table will be open from 11:00am to 6:30pm! Once everyone has come in from their round of golf and scores have been tallied we will announce the winner around 7:00pm! Raffle prizes will be drawn around the same time!

Everyone is welcome to come hang out at the course and enjoy the day while your loved ones golf! Fingers crossed for some sunshine!

Above all please respect the course, the people, and the beautiful grounds we are lucky enough to host this event at! Please plan for safe rides home if you will be drinking!

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for your patience as we finalized numbers and tee times!

First off, thank you all so much for the continued support over the years. We are looking forward to sharing another fathers day weekend with you all!

Now for a little bit more information!

The course has allowed us to start at 11:00 am now, so we have bumped up the tee times to start a little bit earlier as we are spacing start times out 10 minutes apart to accommodate a steady pace and time for fun!

Please arrive at the course at least 30 minutes before your tee time to get organized and ensure you are ready to go out at your scheduled time! Included with your team's entry you will all be getting a meal and a drink, tickets will be provided when you check in for your tee time!

Game play format: Scramble
- each player will tee off of their appropriate tee boxes. Men white tees, ladies red tees.
- Group will then decide which tee shot to use. A minimum of 2 tee shots per player must be taken throughout the 9 holes.
- Once the tee shot is selected, each player will play from that ball position. Repeating this process until the ball is holed.
*players must hit their shot within one club length of the chosen ball (not in direction closer to the hole). Putts must be shot from a marked exact position*

If there is a tie for first place, we will consult the golf gods and a chip off will determine a winner!

There will be a raffle table, putting and chipping games, prizes for best team outfits/costumes, prizes for KP and longest drive as well as others! The winning team will also get to choose a registered charity or nonprofit to donate $1000.00 too, as well as a round of golf for your team!

Prizes will be drawn between 6:30pm to 7:00pm when all scorecards have been turned in. All are welcome to come hang out and enjoy an afternoon at the course whether you are playing or not!

If you are planning on playing 18 holes of golf, please don't just continue on at hole 10. Make sure you plan accordingly and book ahead of time with the pro shop as the back 9 is still open to the public while the tournament is taking place. Only 9 holes of golf is included with your tournament fees, an extra 9 holes will need to be paid for with Myrtle Point.

We are full! But we are going to take a waiting list for any further teams registering between now and May 15th! So don’t sleep on it if you were thinking about playing. If you have registered but have not paid your entry fees yet, please do so ASAP! We will not hold your preferred tee time if other people have paid before you, I’m looking at you 11:30-12:30 people 👀😉
