Petawawa FC 5 - 2 SRBT United

The undefeated train keeps rolling. In fact, with another win under their belts, Petawawa FC are starting to look more like one of those high-speed rail projects everyone talks about.

The squad was already stretched, with three players sidelined through long-term injuries. Meanwhile, two others were unavailable after being deployed to Boston with the Tartan Army. If anyone finds them, please send them home!

On the pitch, Petawawa started brightly and took control of the game, earning a deserved 2–0 lead heading into halftime.

Petawawa continued their momentum after the break and grabbed a third goal in unusual fashion. Scott Read found himself in exactly the right place as a clearance attempt ricocheted off him and into the net. Some goals are the result of years of training and technical excellence. Others hit you unexpectedly and go in. The scorebook counts them all the same.

SRBT United responded with two quick goals of their own to make things interesting, but Petawawa refused to let the game slip away. Regaining control, they pushed forward once again and Darian Blanchard completed a superb four-goal performance by adding two more goals to put the result beyond doubt.

There was also a special contribution from the back line, who apparently decided defending alone wasn't enough. Sam and John both picked up assists after spotting forward runs and delivering excellent passes that caught SRBT off guard. Not content with stopping goals, they helped create them too.

Four goals for Darian. One goal for Scott. Three more points for Petawawa FC.

The undefeated train remains firmly on the tracks and Petawawa FC remain firmly at the top of the league.

And a special thank you, as always, to our sponsors Petawawa Kia for their continued support of local football and community sport. Their backing helps community sports teams achieve success!

Inferno FC 0 - 1 Petawawa FC

In what was billed as a battle for top spot and a clash between two unbeaten sides, Petawawa FC came away with all three points, defeating Inferno FC 1–0.

With a name like Inferno FC, everyone expected plenty of heat. Thankfully for Petawawa, they brought the coolest heads on the pitch. By full time, the only thing burning was Inferno's unbeaten record.

Against a young and talented Inferno side, Petawawa produced another disciplined and determined team performance. Inferno saw plenty of the ball in dangerous areas, but Petawawa's defensive organization ensured that most of their opportunities came from long-range efforts. Time and again, the team worked together off the ball, closing down space, supporting teammates, and frustrating the league leaders at every turn.

The decisive moment came when Xavier "X-Man" Leahy made his long-awaited return after more than a year away from the game. Showing no signs of rust, and perhaps forgetting that his body had been away from competitive football for twelve months, Xavier won the ball in the penalty area and was met by a reckless challenge that left the referee with an easy decision.

The referee pointed straight to the spot.

Up stepped Bruno Ferreira, who calmly converted the penalty to score what proved to be the only goal of the game. Given Bruno's recent interest in shooting from his own half, many supporters were relieved to see him taking the penalty from a slightly more reasonable distance.

From there, Petawawa dug deep. Every player worked tirelessly for the badge and for each other. Tackles were won, runs were tracked, and whenever Inferno looked to build momentum, Petawawa were there to shut the door.

What makes this result even more impressive is the context. With an injury list that seems to be growing faster than the team WhatsApp chat and an average age that occasionally felt twice that of the opposition, Petawawa once again proved that football is not always won by the youngest legs.

It's won by the players willing to run for each other, trust each other, and keep going when everyone else is tiring.

As the saying goes: "Great teams don't rely on one player having a great day. Great teams make sure nobody has to carry the day alone."

This was a victory built on exactly those qualities.

The final whistle confirmed a huge three points, top spot, and the continuation of an unbeaten run that is becoming harder and harder to ignore. The undefeated train keeps rolling down the tracks, and right now, nobody seems able to stop it.

A special thank you, as always, to our sponsors Petawawa Kia for their continued support of local football and community sport. Their backing helps make these moments possible for everyone involved with the club.

Longshots FC 2 - 2 Petawawa FC

On a sunny and sweltering afternoon in Deep River, Petawawa FC found themselves in Deep Trouble...

Petawawa FC made the worst possible start, falling 2–0 behind and looking a long way from extending their strong start to the season. The heat was relentless, the opposition were full of confidence, and with only one substitute available, squad rotation consisted mainly of standing in a slightly different position and hoping for the best.

But if this team has shown anything so far this season, it's that they are a TEAM!

A spirited halftime team talk sparked a remarkable turnaround. Driven by teamwork, determination, and a refusal to let each other down, Petawawa came flying out for the second half and began to wrestle control of the match.

The comeback started with another goal from the in-form Carter Obasohan, whose finish breathed life back into the contest. Sensing the momentum shift, Petawawa continued to press and were rewarded with an equalizer from Darian Blanchard.

The goal itself owed much to the footballing genius of John Jackson, who produced a perfectly executed "dummy header." Some observers claimed he deliberately left the ball for Darian. Others suggested he simply missed it. Either way, the result was the same as Darian powered home the header and John immediately claimed the assist.

As Petawawa piled on the pressure, the belief grew that all three points were there for the taking and what followed was a thrilling finale. With Longshots suddenly on the back foot, Petawawa pushed hard for a winner and came agonizingly close to completing the turnaround. Only a world-class save from the Longshots goalkeeper late in the game denied what looked to be the winning goal and preserved the draw.

While the final score finished 2–2, it felt like much more than a point. After staring down a two-goal deficit in difficult conditions, Petawawa showed tremendous character, resilience, and belief to fight their way back into the match.

Special mention to Bruno Ferreira, making his outdoor debut for Petawawa FC. Midway through the first half, Bruno spotted the goalkeeper off his line, Bruno unleashed an ambitious effort from a different postal code. Had it gone in, it would have been one of the goals of the season. Maybe next time!

Petawawa FC 2 - 0 Grit FC

Petawawa FC returned home this week and produced a defensive masterclass to defeat Grit FC 2–0 in front of the Petawawa faithful. On paper, things looked a little worrying before kickoff — the squad arrived with only one substitute available, while two players appeared to be operating on “Manitoba time” and rolled in fashionably late.

None of it mattered once the whistle blew.

Against a determined Grit FC side, Petawawa defended superbly from start to finish, restricting the opposition to just two shots on target all game. Every player worked for each other, the midfield battled tirelessly, and the back line put on the sort of performance that would make old-school Italian defenders nod in quiet approval.

It was not glamorous football. It was disciplined, organized, and stubborn in all the right ways.

Going forward, Petawawa still carried their threat. Darian Blanchard opened the scoring with a composed finish, before Carter Obasohan continued his strong start to the season by adding the second to put the result beyond doubt.

The team spirit was clear throughout. This squad may be made up of different ages, fitness levels, and interpretations of “match sharp,” but everyone bought in and everyone contributed. Petawawa won as a team.

Communication on the pitch was also an adventure of its own. There was English, French, and every possible version in-between echoing around the field all night:

“Man on!”
“Dans le Right!”
“Tourne, tourne!”
“Keeper!”
“Allez!”

At times it sounded less like a football match and more like a very aggressive Duolingo lesson.

And of course, thank you to our sponsors Petawawa Kia for their continued support of local football and community sport. Reliable support on and off the pitch — something Petawawa FC greatly appreciates this season.
