Join us tomorrow to walk or skate in the pride parade!
THE ROUTE HAS CHANGED FROM LAST YEAR.
The parade will be on Sunday, August 30, 1PM, starting at Wellington Street and Booth Street, ending at Bank Street and Albert Street (with the last group finishing around 3:25). See map for the route which is about 1.5 km:https://capitalpride.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/2026-Capital-Pride-Parade-Info-Packs-EN-FR-4.pdf
When/where to meet: Our group will meet near Wellington Street and Booth Street - look for Colour Zone RED and our staging area code B121.
Suggested arrival time is 12:30, but if you are late, just look for the group of roller skaters.
Consider taking transit to get there. There will be no public parking at the Canadian War Museum.
Washrooms will be available at the staging site.
What to bring:
*Shoes or skates: People are welcome to join us in shoes or in skates. People should only join on skates if they are comfortable with skating outside on uneven rough surfaces that may slope uphill or downhill (I’m pretty sure Wellington is uphill for part of this route). Otherwise, they can join us walking on shoes. If you are skating, I highly recommend packing shoes in case something goes wrong.
*Water and snacks: we may be waiting up to 2 hours, so don’t get heat exhaustion!
*Sunscreen: see above
*A way to carry all of this while marching/skating in the Parade, like a backpack
*No throwing confetti, feathers, glitter, or any other kind of litter! (You may wear glitter/feathers though)
What will we be doing?
*Waving, handing out your organization’s materials, generally making everyone in the crowd think, “Wow, roller skating looks so fun! I want to try that!”
*Some of us will be doing dance moves or skate tricks like jumping
*Derby skaters can do derby demos if they are interested (and properly padded up)
*Note that like every year, in the spirit of our inclusive community, I have invited roller blades and skateboarders to join us if they wish
