Post-competition recovery is essential for equestrian athletes to ensure that both you and your horse are physically and mentally prepared for the next event or training session. After riding, it's important to eat something that replenishes lost nutrients and promotes muscle recovery.

It is important to ensure you complete a proper cool down for you muscles to prevent stiffness and aid in recovery. Focus on stretching your legs, back and hips, as these areas are heavily engages while riding.

#𝟐 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥
Ensure you drink water or an electrolyte drink right after your competition to restore hydration levels. Eating a balanced post-competition meal with protein (for muscle recovery), carbs (for energy replenishment), and healthy fats is key. For example, a steak with potatoes and a fresh salad with avocado can be a great option.

After your competition it is important to ensure you get enough sleep, as it is critical for muscle repair and mental clarity. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep to restore your energy levels. A proper warm-up helps to prevent injuries by loosening muscles and improving flexibility. Nutrition and hydration are important for maintaining energy and stamina throughout the event. Additionally, mental preparation helps the rider stay focused, confident, and ready to adapt to the demands of the competition.

- Be available to participate from May 19th - June 30th inclusively

𝟔 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
- Six weeks written personalized training program
- Weekly 1:1 Check-In sessions (via phone call, zoom etc…)
- Additional support and guidance between sessions
- Nutritional support and guidance
- Creation of SMART goals

𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:
- Complete a client initial interview consultation
- Submit tracking of a one week food diary
- Submit a physical readiness questionnaire
- Submit a variety of health measurements / fitness assessments (pre and post program completion)
- Commit to following a 6 week fitness program designed specifically for you based on your fitness and rider goals
- Agree to take/submit weekly progress photos and track other progress details

With many riders getting ready to compete in the coming months, I thought it would be a great time to share some ways to help you thrive in this upcoming show season.
Up this week for discussion, is the topic of 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Proper hydration is often overlooked, but it's crucial during competition for maintaining both mental and physical performance. Dehydration can affect concentration, muscle function, and stamina.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝟒 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Drink plenty of water the day prior to the event. Aim for at least 16-20 ounces of water in the hours leading up to the event. This helps ensure your body is well-hydrated before you even step into the ring.

#𝟐 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
Adding an electrolyte supplement to your water can help your body retain more water effectively. This can be extremely helpful on warm day or if you tend to sweat a lot during competitions.

#𝟑 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬
Setting an alarm on your phone to remind you to drink some water every 30 minutes is a great way to maintain your hydration levels without overloading your system all at once.
