⚾️ Congratulations to our U13A Grey team on their STRONG season opener⚾️

The New Waterford Dodgers put together a strong all-around performance, combining timely hitting and dominant pitching to earn the first victory against reigning Provincial Champions the Port Hood Jays.

Offensively, the Dodgers received contributions throughout the whole lineup. Max Corbett set the tone at the top of the order, while the rest of the gang all played a role in keeping pressure on the opposition. The Dodgers consistently put runners on base and capitalized on scoring opportunities, producing runs in key situations to build their lead.

In the circle, Dan Rizzo was outstanding for the Dodgers. He overpowered hitters all game long, recording 11 strikeouts while keeping the opposition off balance and limiting scoring chances. When Dan's day was done, Tristan Bennett came on in relief and delivered a steady performance, and with strong defense was able to keep the Jays in check to finish off the game winning 12-8.

In the second game of the day, The New Waterford Dodgers came out swinging against the Port Hood Jays, jumping out to an early lead with 3 on the board top of the 1st.

Port Hood refused to go away, however, answering back with runs of their own and forcing the Dodgers into a hard-fought battle throughout the middle innings. What started as a strong offensive showing quickly turned into a back-and-forth contest, with both teams trading runs and momentum throughout the game.

The Dodgers continued to battle inning by inning, finding ways to respond whenever the Jays threatened. Easton Therrien got the offensive going again in the top of the 6th with a nice double hit and eventually starting the scoring again for the Dodgers. Max C., Billy and Ryker all scored runs putting the Dodgers up by two. Despite the Jays putting another run on the board in the bottom, the Dodgers showed resilience and determination, getting the final 3 outs in the bottom of the 6th beating the Jays 11-10 taking a sweep in their double header.

The 11U Dodgers split their Saturday doubleheader with the Glace Bay All-Stars at Bozo Field. Glace Bay took the opener 11-3, but the Dodgers responded in a big way in Game 2, putting up 15 runs to earn a 15-10 victory.

The bats came alive in the second game as the Dodgers bounced back from the morning loss, showing resilience and determination to finish the day on a high note.
