Let Her Run, Women's Dragon Boat Team

Let Her Run, Women's Dragon Boat Team Women's Dragon Boat Team,
Breast Cancer Awareness,
Nanaimo BC,
We're all in the same boat,
Dragon Boating for the cause

This team was originally brought together, in one way or another, through the spirit of a friend or loved one who has fought the arduous battle with cancer. This has fueled the team’s desire to continue paddling, as well as to continue raising money to support fundraising for breast cancer research and treatment. Paddling is our team’s way of becoming and remaining physically active, to support ou

r own health and fitness, as well as to help the spirit of a true friend live on through engaging in an activity that was her passion. Dragon boating has become closely connected to the breast cancer cause, as it has become “embraced as a complementary exercise therapy by…cancer survivors”. This sport has been recognized as a great form of resistance training to help with strengthening, recovery, and prevention of muscle contracture after breasts cancer treatment (Harris, S. 2012). The Let Her Run team has been formed with this mutual passion to raise funds for breast cancer research, to share our enjoyment of this outdoor water activity, as well as to promote and maintain our own physical and mental health. Our team strives to avoid drama, to share friendship, camaraderie, and friendly competition, to spread the passion and enjoyment of this incredible sport, and to raise awareness of breast cancer. We welcome all and any support your company, business, team, or self is able to contribute to our team, (whether that be through financial means, the donation of equipment or fundraising supplies, or through moral support and cheer) to help us make the most of our season and fundraising efforts.
