Hello Eastern Shore Minor Hockey,

Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for June 1st, 2026 from 7:00pm–9:00pm in the community hall at our rink (67 Park Rd., Musquodoboit Harbour, NS).

All members are invited to attend.

Our association is managed by a group of volunteers who fill positions on our executive council. Every year, half of these positions are up for election. Nominations are accepted from our membership and voted on at the AGM.

Advance nominations will be accepted until May 25th. Please submit nominations through our website:

Nominations will also be accepted in person at the meeting.

Positions up for election this year:

* President (2-year term)
* Secretary (2-year term)
* Julie Wagner – re-offering incumbent
* Registrar (2-year term)
* Janet Boutillier – re-offering incumbent
* Development Coordinator (2-year term)
* Equipment Coordinator (2-year term)
* Budget Coordinator (2-year term)
* Risk Manager (2-year term)
* Laura Rockwood – re-offering incumbent

Once the new season begins, we will also be appointing:

* U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U18, U23 Coordinators
* Ref-in-Chief
* Tournament Coordinator
* Jamboree Coordinator
* 50/50 Coordinator

Several of our current executives are reaching the end of their Minor Hockey journey and will not be re-offering for their roles. If you’re interested in getting involved or have questions, we encourage you to reach out.

This meeting is a great opportunity to review the season, meet and ask questions of our executive, have your say, and vote in our elections.

🏒 WE ARE SEEKING A NEW RISK MANAGER

The Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association is currently looking for a Risk Manager to join our volunteer executive board.

This is a very important role focused on helping ensure a safe, well-run environment for all players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.

📌 What does the Risk Manager do?
The Risk Manager is responsible for:
• Supporting and promoting player and participant safety across all programs
• Ensuring proper safety policies and procedures are followed
• Helping manage and respond to incidents, injuries, or concerns when they arise
• Ensuring required certifications and compliance standards are up to date (in coordination with the Registrar and board)

• Working with coaches, teams, and the board to maintain a safe hockey environment
• Helping review and reduce risks related to facilities, equipment, and operations
This is a volunteer position that plays a key role in protecting the well-being of everyone involved in our association.

💡 No formal risk management background is required—support and guidance will be provided.

WE ARE SEEKING COORDINATORS

The Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association is currently looking for Coordinators to join our volunteer executive board.

These are flexible and important roles that help ensure teams, families, and programs are supported throughout the hockey season.

📌 What do Coordinators do?
Coordinators are responsible for:
• Supporting communication between teams, families, and the board
• Helping organize and relay important season information
• Assisting with scheduling, updates, and general program coordination as needed
• Supporting specific age groups or divisions (depending on assignment)
• Helping ensure a smooth and positive experience for players and families
• Working alongside other board members to keep operations running effectively

💡 No prior experience is required—just good communication skills and a willingness to help. Support will be provided.

WE ARE SEEKING A NEW BUDGET COORDINATOR

The Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association is currently looking for a Budget Coordinator to join our volunteer executive board.

This is an important role that helps ensure the association remains financially organized, responsible, and transparent.

📌 What does the Budget Coordinator do?

The Budget Coordinator is responsible for:
• Assisting in the development and monitoring of the budgets
• Tracking income and expenses throughout the season
• Helping prepare financial updates for board meetings and the AGM
• Supporting communication with the Treasurer and executive team on financial planning
• Helping ensure the association operates in a financially sustainable way

This is a volunteer position, but it plays a key role in keeping the association financially healthy and well-managed.

💡 Strong organization skills and attention to detail are helpful. Financial experience is an asset but not required—support will be provided.

The Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association is currently looking for a Referee in Chief (RIC) to join our volunteer leadership team.

This is an important role that supports the growth and success of officiating within our association.

📌 What does the Referee in Chief do?
• Acts as the main contact for referees and officials
• Helps recruit and support new officials
• Shares clinic and certification information
• Assists with referee scheduling and game coverage
• Mentors younger and developing officials
• Promotes respect, fairness, and sportsmanship
• Works with the board to ensure smooth game operations

The Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association is currently looking for an Equipment Manager to join our volunteer executive board.
This role helps ensure teams have the equipment they need to operate safely and effectively throughout the season.

📌 What does the Equipment Manager do?
The Equipment Manager is responsible for:
• Managing and organizing association-owned hockey equipment
• Distributing and tracking equipment as needed for teams and programs
• Ensuring equipment is safe, in good condition, and properly maintained
• Coordinating repairs, replacements, and inventory as required
• Supporting coaches and teams with equipment needs throughout the season
• Keeping basic records of equipment distribution and returns

This is a volunteer position, but it plays an important behind-the-scenes role in keeping teams on the ice.

WE ARE SEEKING A NEW PRESIDENT

The Eastern Shore Minor Hockey Association is currently looking for a new President to join our volunteer executive board.

This is a key leadership role that helps guide the direction of minor hockey in our community.

📌 What does the President do?

The President is the lead volunteer and primary coordinator of the association, responsible for:
• Providing overall leadership to the board and association
• Chairing board meetings and the Annual General Meeting
• Ensuring policies, bylaws, and Hockey Nova Scotia guidelines are followed
• Acting as the main representative of the association in the community
• Supporting and guiding board members and committee roles
• Helping ensure all programs and operations run smoothly throughout the season
• Working closely with other volunteers (Registrar, Risk Manager, Development, etc.) to keep the organization aligned and organized
This is a volunteer position, but it is also a meaningful opportunity to make a real impact on local youth hockey and help shape the future of our association.

Hey Mariners,

Our association executive is composed of 13 elected volunteers who serve 2-year terms, plus 8 or more appointed positions that serve 1-year terms. Every year in June, half of the elected positions and all of the appointed positions are up for renewal.

At this upcoming AGM, we will be electing.
