What's a year of highland dance look like? We have a ton of opportunities for every sort of dancer. Highland is a mostly individual activity, so if your dancer doesn't want to participate in every opportunity, that is just fine! However we think there's a lot of fun to be had..
⚔ Performances! We perform all over Moose Jaw, and dancers that are members of have the opportunity to perform at Mosaic in Regina! If you've got a dancer who loves a stage, this is a great opportunity for them!
⚔Competitions! Got a competitive dancer? There are several competitions in Saskatchewan and even more across the country and the world! Dancers aged 4-6 can compete as a primary and dancers aged 7+ can compete as a beginner and eventually other categories.
⚔Medal Exams! Exams are a great way to see how well your technique and knowledge of steps matches up to the standard. Dancers can start at any age. Dancers who love to learn and keep track of their progress will love medal exams.
⚔Traditional Dances! Highland dances are hundreds of years old. When you do these steps, you are doing the same steps that Scottish warriors used to do. If you love history, highland dance has lots of it!
⚔New Choreographies! We love tradition, but we also love to mix it up. Once some of the technique of traditional dances is nailed down, dancers can learn new choreographies to modern music and flex their creativity muscles.
⚔Dance Friends! Is there a better way to make friends than doing the same niche hobby together? Even if your dancer doesn't want to perform, compete, or do exams, we bet they will make a friend at dance!
⚔Fun in Class. Dance class is for learning technique, but we also like to make it fun. If you have a child who likes playing rock-paper-scissors with their toes, jumping like different animals, or taking part in some dance games, our class is made for them!
