Teaching swimming and mentoring new teachers a

nd lifeguards brings me great joy, and I don't see it as a job, but as a life's calling. Working with people and seeing them succeed is why I do this... and I hope to continue Drowning Prevention through teaching swimming for as long as I can.

Willingness to learn is so important at creating trust and confidence.
Sometimes it’s just fart noises, funny jokes and keeping them in the water.
But never under estimate the impact these “non swimming” lessons have on the journey…. Because at the end they calmed down, and will be happier next lesson.

Most people think drowning looks like the movies — splashing, screaming, waving for help.
It doesn't.
Drowning is fast and silent. And it's the #1 cause of accidental death in children ages 1–4 — not car accidents, not falls. Drowning.
A child can drown in moments. In the time it took you to read this far, a child can drown. In most cases, a supervising adult was present — they were just distracted or weren't expecting the child to have access to the water.
That's why active supervision — eyes on the water, every second — isn't just a suggestion. It's the difference.

Wear yout PFD!

Getting to shore safely fully clothed can be near impossible.
And it’s too late once you’re overboard to get your PFD on.
